“First corporate accelerators and incubators appeared in Ukraine in 2006,” said Denys Dovgopolyi, founder and managing partner at GrowthUP Group who advised Kyivstar and VDNH Tech on building their accelerator. “By 2010, Ukrainian software development outsourcing companies launched around 10 of them, but none was successful. The main reason of their failure was that they took 80% of startupsstake, which effectively turned entrepreneurs into hired managers with stock options.” Neither Kyivstar nor Microsoft took any equity from startups that participated in their acceleration programs. The companies, however, had quite different goals in mind when launching them. Launching big Same as most corporate accelerators in Europe, Kyivstar basically offered the few chosen startups to become their launching customer. Initially, 119 teams applied for the three-month program, of which 11 were approved.

The Yosypenkos, a family of beekeepers, arent planning to export their homemade honey to the European Union. Neither do many other smaller honey producers in Ukraine. The reason: They lack connections with importers and money to pay customs. Ukraine’s duty-free export quota with the EU has been quickly used up since the nation’s free-trade agreement came into effect last year. The “first come, first servedquota system meant big producers this year used up the 5,200-ton quota by Jan. 11. Further exports are subject to a 17 percent duty, which effectively prevents the smaller producers from exporting. “We’d like to export, but a small beekeeper still can’t afford it – only big exporters can,” says beekeeper Roman Yosypenko of Kyiv. Other impediments are the cost of quality certificates, taxes and a lack of business connections in Europe. The present trade agreement started functioning for Ukrainian and EU exporters in January 2016.

January 11, 2017. The day not-my-President-elect Donald Trump had a Hollywood-worthy showdown with the media during his first press conference in five months. The only thing missing was the cheesy soundtrack from a Sergio Leone Spaghetti western. We'll give this one to Trump. The losers? CNN, its reporter Jim Acosta and the entire 4th estate. What happens next will determine whether the media survives the Trump era and continues to play a central role in American politics and daily life, or if it limps away a sad broken footnote in the most bizarre, divisive administration in history. It's definitely time to sound the alarms, as we've entered unchartered territory. The media should be terrified, as its very existence is in grave danger. Trump and the press have raced right past whatever honeymoon normally exists and have stage-dived into the contentious, punitive phase of this dysfunctional relationship.

The Florida man who was arrested on Tuesday for threatening the life of President-elect Donald Trump on Twitter is a close family friend of former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton. Dominic Puopolo Jr. is part of a prominent northeast family with ties to the Clintons, the Daily Mail reported on Thursday. Hillary Clinton gave the eulogy of Puopolo's mother, Sonia, who died during the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Clinton referred to him as Dom Jr.'s latest computer wizardry during the speech about his mother. He has also given $20,000 to the Democratic National Committee. Puopolo Jr. is currently being held without bail for a tweet where he said he was going to show up at the inauguration and assassinate the president-elect. The tweet said, This is the 16th of January 2017, I will be at the review/ inauguration and I will kill President Trump, President elect Trump today.

This is partly an issue of choice - particularly the browser choice that Microsoft was forced to give customers after a court ruling - and partially because older versions fell behind the rendering and compatibility curve. There are no such issues with Internet Explorer 11. It's clean, powerful, highly compatible, and it demands less of your RAM and CPU than equivalent pages would on Chrome or Firefox. Plus it one-ups both of them on WebKit's Sunspider benchmark. That's not to say this browser is perfect. Google's V8 benchmark sees it struggling, and IE isn't quite as able to handle add-ons and extensions as many of its competitors. So while there's no reason to avoid IE like there might once have been, if you're looking for a more customised browsing experience you're out of luck. It found companies in which entities controlled by Khamenei have a large or majority stake, including those that are part of the economic empire of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have struck at least nine foreign deals worth more than $11 billion in the last 18 months. Setad said in a statement to Reuters that Iran's private sector is reluctant to make large and long-term investments. Setad and groups like it create a favorable atmosphere for investment, private-sector development, and the downsizing of the government, it said. The IRGC declined to comment. The state dominates Iran's economy, so state-controlled firms were always likely to win most business after sanctions were lifted. Iranian officials estimate that the private sector makes up only 20 percent of Iran's economy.
