President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn into office Friday on an economic sugar rush. The markets have soared since his election, and companies are falling over themselves to curry his favor by announcing new plans to expand in the United States. I will be the greatest jobs producer that God ever created, he said at press conference last week. Trump is particularly fond of manufacturing investment and jobs, having launched a running Twitter war with large manufacturers, including Ford, General Motors and Toyota, to pressure them into expanding investment in the U.S. rather than Mexico. Trump has made it very clear what he wants for the American economy: more investment and more jobs. The goal is a laudable one and one that helped him carry voters in the Rust Belt states that decided the election. Over the last two decades, the U.

ACTOR Woody Harrelson will be heading to a galaxy far, far away for his next movie, playing a role in the second anthology Star Wars film focused on a young Han Solo. Lucasfilm said Wednesday in a statement that the 55-year-old Oscar-nominated actor will join Alden Ehrenreich, who will play the younger version of the smuggler and space pirate Han Solo. The cast will also include Donald Glover, as a young Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke, of Game of Thrones, in an undisclosed role. "We couldn't be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody," said Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directors of the film due out for release next year. "His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong." The Hunger Games actor told Mashable in a Facebook Live that he would be playing a "mentor to Han, but I'm also a bit of a criminal".

Woody Harrelson is officially joining the cast of the upcoming Star Wars standalone film centered around a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) , and Mashable got a chance to talk to the Hunger Games star soon after the casting news broke on Wednesday. Details about Harrelson's Star Wars role are scarce, but the actor confirmed rumors that he'll be playing "a mentor to Han," telling Mashable that his character is "also a bit of a criminal." Much as Obi-Wan Kenobi schooled Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force, perhaps Harrelson's character will tutor the young Han Solo in the finer points of being a smuggling scoundrel. Read more... Less than one week after being fired by the Los Angeles Rams, Jeff Fisher is speaking out about his former employer. In a preview of an interview with Charissa Thompson of Fox Sports that will air during Sunday's pregame telecast (h/t NFL .com's Marc Sessler ), Fisher does not seem like he's taking his dismissal well. " I want a chance to play the Rams," he said. In addition to his desire to coach against the Rams, Fisher explained why he believes the team decided to let him go. "He didn't win enough games, and the organization has a much bigger picture," Fisher said. "And I don't think I was ever part of seeing the new stadium." Upon being let go by the Rams on Monday, ESPN's Alden Gonzalez provided a statement from Fisher: First and foremost, I want to thank Stan Kroenke for the opportunity to be part of this organization the last four and a half years.

He says the school's mix of classroom and practical training pays for the company. “That graduate has been down in the tanks, the bowels of these ships; they know these complex pipe assemblies; they know what it takes to be a test electrician, they've done it and they take that experience with them the rest of their career,” said Jordan. Efforts to boost workforce skills through apprenticeships are more common in Germany, Denmark and other nations than the United States, says Edward Alden, author of Failure to Adjust, a new book about problems in the U.S. workforce. “Apprenticeships are essentially an investment by companies into their future, and the future of their communities," said Alden. "We saw over the decade of the 2000's a 40 percent decline in apprenticeships being offered by [American] private companies." As ships become more complex, the kinds of skills needed by builders are also growing.

By day I'm a writer, but few people know that I also have a side hustle. I love to comb thrift stores on weekends, looking for items to flip on eBay. My latest score was a beautiful pair of Alden Shoes that I picked up for $20 at the Salvation Army and will sell for about $200. I also stumbled upon three copies of Newsweek's "Madam President" edition ( which was quickly recalled ) at my local Target. They sold in less than 24 hours for more than ten times what I paid. Global action against climate change is therefore only stronger with the U.S. as part of it, said Norton. Union of Concerned ScientistsDirector of Strategy and Policy Alden Meyer told IPS that despite uncertainty in the U.S. role, the Paris Agreement will continue on as agreed. “[Nations] wanted the U.S. to stay in, but if they didnt, it wasnt going to stop them from moving forward…there’s a sort of spirit of ‘we’re in this together and we’re going to go ahead and know that the U.S. will come back in at some point’,” Meyer told IPS. But it will be a tough road ahead to secure effective and inclusive climate policies at the federal level, Meyer added. Soon after the election, the President-elect appointed climate change skeptic Myron Ebell, who urged the senate to reject the Paris Agreement, to lead the transition at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a discouraging signal in the global struggle against climate change.
