Sharon Jones of Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings performs during the 2012 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn. Dave Martin/AP Soul singer Sharon Jones, lead singer of the group The Dap-Kings, has died, her publicist announced late Friday. She was 60. Music Interviews No Music, No Headphones': Sharon Jones On Getting Through Cancer She'd been fighting pancreatic cancer since 2013, when she took a break from touring to undergo extensive surgery and chemotherapy, Fresh Air wrote earlier this year . The cancer went into remission, but returned this year. She told Terry Gross about the difficulty of her treatment: "I couldn't sing. I couldn't get air because, people didn't realize, I was cut across the diaphragm, all the way up from right under the center under my breasts, all the way down to the top of my navel, almost." Even after she returned to the stage, she told Terry, she didn't feel like the band's dynamic performances were the same.

Valencia still wishes Canova had won, because Wasserman Shultz clearly had a role in drafting a Democratic party platform that was silent on occupation, by literally not mentioning it. And Canova's talk of disarmament in the middle east is like proposing banning drugs from Burning Man or Bonnaroo, big music festivals full of high people. All one can hope for is that they use these items responsibly. Even though Canova deftly but obviously dodged her essential question on Israel's nuclear stockpile, the Tuesday loss for the more progressive democrat is still a disappointment for Valencia. “It's disappointing because as much as I am wavering about him...ultimately she is much worse for Palestine and much worse for the anti-Establishment movement. She is so pro-Israel and no doubt had a hand in moulding one of the most pro-Israel DNC platforms in history.

Music festivals can be really exciting, but they also can be full of annoyances, like getting caught in a torrential downpour or stifled by unbearable heat. State Farm is helping ease festival-goers woes through its new sponsored activations. The activations debuted this summer at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and also will appear at the Austin City Limits, iHeartRadio Vegas and iHeartRadio Latina festivals later this year. The move is a nod to State Farms like a good neighbor legacy, as well as its new brand platform, Here to help life go right. At Bonnaroo, where most people camp, State Farm provided festival attendees with roadside assistance for their vehicles and items they may have forgotten, such as toothpaste and shampoo. At Lollapalooza, the company distributed ponchos to help music lovers cope with unexpected rainstorms.

Do Radiohead have the most dedicated fans in the world? If there's any doubt about that, just have a go at insulting the band on social media. You will tremble at their vitriol, you will cry and hold yourself and delete your Twitter acount, and then you will call your mum. Radiohead's fans really, really love Radiohead. None more so than megafan and YouTube user Johnny Airbag, who has combed the internet for video footage of a recent gig at Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall. He's spliced it all together to make a complete gig. The band performed 24 songs and returned for no fewer than two encores, meaning this was an epic concert from Oxford's finest. Their 2006 performance at Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee was so stunning it's achieved canonical status in the band's backstory, with fans poring over the footage online, but perhaps a new successor has emerged in this Amsterdam show, which has now been preserved for eternity (or until it potentially disappears completely from YouTube).

Over the course of a week in June, rising singer Maren Morris had crisscrossed the country performing on late night and daytime talk shows, opening up for Keith Urban's new tour and then playing two major music festivals in Tennessee. "Oh my god, how many cities have I been in this week? I don't even know what day it is,'' the 26-year-old country singer joked backstage after a sound check at Nissan Stadium during the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. Spurred by strong streaming activity and a hooky single called "My Church'' - that was covered recently by "The Voice'' contestant Mary Sarah - Morris' major label debut "Hero'' topped the Billboard country album charts in its first week, the first time a new artist has done so since Sam Hunt's debut in 2014. As kid growing up in Arlington, Texas, the diminutive singer with the naturally alto vocal range fantasized of stages this big.

A car can take one to three hours to make that trip, depending on traffic. Uber media representatives declined to say how much prices would rise after Thursday or how many helicopters would be made available by the three companies operating the flights. Uber aims to get as much as five times the flight time out of each helicopter compared to standard use, according to a spokeswoman. The Sao Paulo pilot program, connecting four airports and five other helipads, is Uber's biggest step yet in a partnership with Airbus Group, announced in January. Uber experimented in recent years with helicopter rides to the Coachella and Bonnaroo music festivals from nearby U.S. airports that cost as much as $3,000 to book a full helicopter and door-to-door SUV rides. Spanish rival Cabify, which launched its Sao Paulo car service on Monday, is also in talks with three flight providers and plans to offer helicopter rides in the city by the end of the year, as it already does in Mexico City.

Summertime is here and more people are getting outdoors, especially for large music festivals. But just because everyone is outside enjoying the weather and music doesnt mean theyll be equally receptive to marketing and brand messaging. Concertgoers at three of the largest and most well-known U.S. music festivalsCoachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapaloozahave distinctly different tastes and spending habits. Nielsen took a deeper dive into the demos at each festival to provide better marketing insights. Two festivals may look very similar demographically, but if Im a brand manager trying to pick a festival I can sponsor to promote my bourbon brand, it would be important for me to know if the Bonnarroo fan or the Coachella fan is a more active bourbon drinker, said Nielsen branded film and music director Matt Yazge.
