I've heard it so many times: I love this city, but the traffic is killing me. It seems like a hyperbolic statement, and yet, when people become angry, stressed, and withdrawn, you have to wonder, is it actually killing people? But I'm not even talking about commuting necessarily. It's the sound, the pollution, the lack of scenery that also makes people complain. They dream of trees, of fresh air, and the sound of birds over beeps. City life has a lot to offer, but when people find themselves complaining more than enjoying, perhaps it's time to take a step back. A recent study published in the Lancet , in fact, supports people's seemingly dramatic statements about all that congestion, saying that living close to a major roadway may actually increase your risk of developing dementia. The study defined a road as major in relation to traffic volume, like an interstate highway in the U.

In the U.K. [version], they had some real success, especially with male younger viewers, which is not easy to do. After its debut, Hunted moves to Wednesdays, where it will air between this seasons two cycles of Survivor. This feels like the perfect place to put the show. Its a natural fit for the Survivor audience, who loves competition and who wants to see those struggles of the characters, said Geller. Survivor and The Amazing Race have been solid performers for the network, but with 61 seasons between them (33 for Survivor, 28 for Amazing Race), CBS would like to find some fresh blood in the reality genre. (Its most recent unscripted success, Undercover Boss, launched in 2010.) While Survivors fall rating in the 18-49 demo, 1.8, was down 10 percent from the shows spring cycle, the show still outrated everything on CBS fall schedule except for The Big Bang Theory, NCIS and 60 Minutes.

Kong: Skull Island is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who sports an extraordinary foot-long beard and previously directed the superb coming-of-age drama Kings Of Summer . Like so many young filmmakers, he's moving up to a huge $190m blockbuster with the weight of an entire franchise on his shoulders, so no pressure there. He has a cracking cast to order around, though, including Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Terry Notary and John C Reilly. Place your bets on which of those actors will make it to Skull Island 's end credits. 14. John Wick: Chapter 2 In CG-dominated times, pure action movies on the big screen are harder to find than they should be. What a massive breath of fresh air 2014’s John Wick was, then. Keanu Reeves headlined the film, as the ex-hitman (with a dog) who comes out of retirement. But under the stewardship of co-directors Chad Stahelski (who was one of the stunt doubles who helped complete 1994’s The Crow after the death of Brandon Lee) and David Leitch, John Wick proved a physical, quality slice of action.

A lot of people were trying to help. I went outside to get some fresh air and saw people running towards me and screaming and yelling. If I had taken another couple of steps it would have been made.

Using clues from the fossil record, Emily Parsons-Lord re-creates air from distinct moments in Earth's history -- from the clean, fresh-tasting air of the Carboniferous period to the soda-water air of the Great Dying to the heavy, toxic air of the future we're creating. By turning air into art, she invites us to know the invisible world around us. Breathe in the Earth's past and future in this imaginative, trippy talk.

There you go. This is just an early model and John and the rower Rupert Cattell are hoping to raise funds to progress the design. Today they tested it on some of the elite rowers at Oxford University and they're hoping that we mere mortals might be interested in it too as a fresh air alternative to the gym.

Just getting active and breathing in some fresh air can almost instantly lift your spirits. When you are down in the dumps it can be hard to find the energy to even get up to do this, but once you do, you will be glad you did! 2. Vent Your Frustrations Into a Journal Get a notebook and a pen and just start to write. Write whatever comes to your head, and no matter what it is, just keep writing. Even if it’s just, “ This is stupid. Why am I doing this? I hate this ,” just keep going. Keep on going and eventually your frustrations will start to pour out through your hands and onto the paper. Sometimes, being able to vent out your frustrations to yourself can really take away some of their power. It’s as if, once they are out of your head and onto the paper, your brain is free to move on and think about something else. 3. Call a Friend or Family Member Even though you may feel like you dont want to burden anyone else with your bad mood, sometimes a friend or family member is just what you need to lift your spirits.

WHEN Cheryl Tan was seven, she spent most of her time alone at school. She was drawn to books and they were often her best companion. “In school, I was that strange Cheryl who lied about doing her homework and was socially awkward,” she reminisced. Her parents, who are musical theatre enthusiasts, thought it was a good idea to enrol her into speech and drama classes at Helen O’Grady Academy. The classes turned out to be a breath of fresh air, adding colours to her life and a sense of belonging. Hence, it didnt take too long for the arts to ignite a fiery passion within Tan. She got more involved in the arts after enrolling into Sekolah Sri Cempaka, one of the few schools in Malaysia to pioneer a curriculum that integrated the performing arts. Apart from starring in the school’s annual musical productions, Tan also participated in the local theatre scene by joining The Young KL Singers at the age of 14 under the guidance of its founder and established choral conductor, Susanna Saw.

In the first video of the 2017 BMW M4 Facelift , BMW M focuses on the motorsports genes of the in-house midclass athletes. On the race track, we see the M4 Coupe, the M4 Convertible and the technically, the identical BMW M3 Sedan, in spectacular drifts and in smoke-rising tires. The video also shows how deep the roots of the BMW M4 and M3 are anchored in the world of motorsport and how the technology transfers from the track onto the road. With the model update, the BMW M4 Facelift is therefore primarily receiving new lighting technology, from which also the 4 Series variants have benefited as well . The adaptive full-LED headlights are used as standard in the sporty top models. LED technology also ensures a highly modern appearance and a fresh touch. Besides this, a number of styling touches have been added to give the cabin of the sportiest BMW 4 Series variants an even more sophisticated air.

However, the tactic has worked extremely well because those of us who are watching his progression to the White House are incapable of making solid statementscritical or supportive about his policies one way or the other since we do not actually know what they are. To be sure, in the days leading up to his inauguration, Trump has done a few positive things. First, by appointing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head a Vaccine Safety Commission , the President-elect has taken a bold stance in favor of unbiased research into the dangers of vaccinations and the power of Big Pharma as well as the constant hysterical lunacy coming from corporate media outlets kept alive by Big Pharma’s money. Second, his recent attack on CNN was a welcome breath of fresh air. To see CNN correctly labeled as “Fake News” after years of literally making up skits and stories to promote the establishment agenda was a pleasure to behold.

Well, it seems like Japanese legislators are finally initiating a more stringent anti-smoking law set to kick-in just in time for the 2020 Olympics.(1) The law, which in principle bans smoking inside public spaces and aims to prevent secondhand smoke, is long in coming and long overdue. The call to action seems to be truly motivated by two things; a) the global trend toward limiting the presence of smoke in public spaces and b) the 2020 Olympics. Nevermind that it is in the best interest of all people living in Japan to not be exposed to toxic fumes, it is the potential global response from visitors and viewers during the Olympics that really gave this law its needed push. Public shaming still carries a punch in Japan. To Japan's credit, there have been efforts to encourage smokers to think of people other than themselves. Many parts of Tokyo, for example, have "smoking areas" where nicotine cravers can light up together (and get their groupism fix at the same time).

Sixty-three years after the Supreme Court's ruling in Brown v. Board of Education , many schools across the country either remain segregated or have re-segregated. Journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones tells Fresh Air s Terry Gross that when it comes to school segregation, separate is never truly equal. There's never been a moment in the history of this country where black people who have been isolated from white people have gotten the same resources, Hannah-Jones says. They often don't have the same level of instruction. They often don't have strong principals. They often don't have the same technology. Still, when it was time for Hannah-Jones' daughter, Najya, to attend kindergarten, the journalist chose the public school near their home in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, even though its students were almost all poor and black or Latino.

Preventing the spread of malware and/or dealing with the consequences of infection are a fact of life when using computers. If you’ve migrated to Linux or Mac seeking refuge from the never-ending stream of threats that seems to target Windows, you can breath a lungful of fresh air—just dont let your guard down. Though UNIX-like systems such as Mac OS X and Linux can claim fewer threats due to their smaller user bases, threats do still exist. Viruses can be the least of your problem too. Ransomware, like the recent version of KillDisk, attacks your data and asks you to pay, well, a king’s ransom to save your files. (In the case of KillDisk, even paying the ransom can’t save you if you’re running Linux .) To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here

With the use of its technologies such as nano-technology, genetic engineering, drugs, robotics and bionics… to ‘enhance’ us, we are in grave danger of losing our heart connectivity and thus getting rendered powerless to do anything about the ruling elite’s control system. Earth and our energetic disconnection Our heart energies extend to an energetic connection with Earth. It’s no coincidence that EARTH is an anagram for HEART. The ruling elite are destroying planet Heart’s energy by polluting the land, air, food and water through geo-engineering, fracking, chemical pollution, radiation, genetic modification… as we blindly partake. The recent protests over the laying down of oil pipeline at Standing Rock, Dakota is a stand for the heart energy: Here we have a situation where on one side there are protesters honouring a piece of land as a God-given sacred living entity, providing fertile soil and fresh waterOn the other side, a number of heartless individuals; bribed politicians representing greed-driven corporations, an over-the-top, intimidating and known to be brutal militarized police force to deal with the peaceful protesters should they impede the land-spoiling pipeline constructionOur awakening In this age of truth and transparency, in our awakening, having chosen the ‘service to others’ pathway, more than ever, we need to demonstrate gratitude, compassion, empathy, generosity, kindness and caring for each other as a way of staying in the heart.
