At present, we know little of where the follow-up to The Force Awakens will go, other than it stars much of the previous film's cast, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Mark Hamill, while various interviews with those returning actors have hinted at a darker direction for the story. In many respects, Johnson has a tough task ahead of him with Episode VIII ; The Force Awakens relied heavily on resurrecting the icons from the original trilogy - Han Solo, the Millennium Falcon and so on - but its sequel arguably needs to move things forward if this new series of movies is going to develop its own distinctive voice. Here's hoping that Johnson's indie sensibility - see Brick , The Brothers Bloom , Looper - will add a touch of the unexpected to this firmly re-established space opera. 5. "Darth Vader will rise from the ashes," the insider said, declaring that the character was too powerful to ever disappear from the franchise. There could also be room for a teenage Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, showing them joining the Imperial Army as new recruits. And in the meantime? Until - and if - any of that comes into fruition, fans will have to content themselves with the next couple of episodes – of which we know very little. The official title for episode 8 has not even been released yet. However, AVSForum says Lucasfilm has filed a trademark to the EU intellectual property office for Star Wars: Forces of Destiny and speculates this could well be the next film. In terms of characters, we should see the return of Luke Skywalker, Rey, Chewbacca and Kylo Ren, while Benicio del Toro plays a villain, NME says. And what about Carrie Fisher?! The death of Carrie Fisher in December "has left a disturbance in the Force", the Hollywood Reporter says.

ACTOR Woody Harrelson will be heading to a galaxy far, far away for his next movie, playing a role in the second anthology Star Wars film focused on a young Han Solo. Lucasfilm said Wednesday in a statement that the 55-year-old Oscar-nominated actor will join Alden Ehrenreich, who will play the younger version of the smuggler and space pirate Han Solo. The cast will also include Donald Glover, as a young Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke, of Game of Thrones, in an undisclosed role. "We couldn't be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody," said Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, directors of the film due out for release next year. "His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong." The Hunger Games actor told Mashable in a Facebook Live that he would be playing a "mentor to Han, but I'm also a bit of a criminal".

“I’m a capitalist. 'Star Wars' is the capitalist show. 'Star Trek' is the communist one,” he explains. “There is no money in 'Star Trek' because you just have the transporter machine that can make anything you need. The whole plot of “Star Warsstarts with Han Solo having this debt that he owes and so the plot in 'Star Wars' is driven by money.” The full interview is well worth reading , if you have time.
