The biggest problem La La Land has is, everyone says La La Land is brilliant, so now there is almost a backlash, people saying "Oh, surely it can't be as good as that." It is, I'm sorry, it is. It's a modern musical that owes a debt to The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Singin' in the Rain, but also to Casablanca and New York, New York. And the big crowd scenes, the big numbers are quite something. And I've heard some people say "Oh, there's not a memorable tune in it.

On the day Donald Trump tucked the nuclear launch codes into his arsenal and took up residence at the White House, he was unable to lock down the entire spotlight. Trumps crowds on Friday were dramatically smaller than either of Barack Obamas inaugural celebrationsso small that Washingtons notoriously fickle subway system actually kept pace. Trump lacked star wattage in his musical guests. Rain began just as Trump began to speak . His parade was thin and behind schedule, and the growing anti-Trump protests in the city stole some of his thunder as they set trash on fire and disrupted a town not know for handling crowds well. The 45th President of the United States, a former reality show star and current producer of The Apprentice brand, seems to have scripted a dud. He stood at the foot of the Capitol, surrounded by official Washington, and promised to end his new neighbors influence.

But even with its high-profile launching pad, Hunted will face an uphill struggle; in recent year, several broadcast networks have tried, and failed, to mount new reality competition series. The most notable flops include The X Factor on Fox, and a pair of musical competition misfires on ABC: Duets and Rising Star. I think theres an expectation, fair or not, that when you put a reality show on it has to be a big hit, Geller told Adweek last year. You dont find a lot of middling success. And in scripted, there seems to be much more room for singles and doubles than there is in reality. On our schedule, we have a lot of success. We dont have a lot of room to try new things, so I get that the expectation is its got to be big, its got to work, it really has to have impact. I hope its a big hit. If its not, well try something else.
