And, while its certainly not the most portable of notebooks, the sharp angles situated around the design keep it looking sleek. The bezel is a little chunkier than wed like, and the standard membrane keyboard leaves much to be desired (especially for the price), but theres a lot to be said for it. What did impress, however, was the cooling system. No doubt due in part to its large size, but it was rare for us to hear the fans ramp up, if at all. That said, unsurprisingly, the fans are somewhat whiney when they do kick in, but theyre nothing that a good pair of headphones cant drown out. While, frankly, you shouldnt have to, most of the time youll be buried into a good game, so its not something well get too hung up on with how rarely it happens. The I/O, on the other hand oh boy, what a compliment.

Earlier this spring, an unknown name started cropping up on the British summer festival posters. It wasn't littered at the bottom with the other new, breaking names, but sat far more prominently and in a bigger, bolder font size - A Blaze of Feather. Citadel, Latitude and Cornwall's own Boardmasters all had this curious name, front and centre of their posters. Unsurprisingly the internet went into overdrive. British musician Ben Howard, not one for making too much noise on his social media...

you, what is your response to President Trump's first 100 days in office? Unsurprisingly I think I would have high marks for president, but you don't have to take my word for it, new polls out this week show nine out of ten people who supported him will do so and another poll showed that 43% of people would.

So Labour unsurprisingly disagreed with this assessment. But the reality is that whoever is in power come June is going to have to contend with an economy doing worse than it was last year. Ukip's General Election campaign launch came close to collapsing into farce this morning, after protesters stormed the building in Westminster where it was taking place. There were scuffles and shouting, before the group were removed

On Thursday, Apple officially opened its brand new retail store in Dubai's Dubai Mall. While plenty of photos of the unopened store surfaced on social media, Apple has now shared some official photos, and a video, from the grand opening. SEE ALSO: Apple finally made these apps free for all users Unsurprisingly, the location is beautiful and the store features a number of interesting technical solutions, including the 37.5-foot-high motorized "solar wings," which cool the store when the sun is hot and open up in the evening when the air is cooler. You can see the carbon fiber wings in their open state in the (apparently drone-filmed) video below. Read more... More about Dubai , Apple Stores , Apple , and Tech

Ravin Hassan and Milena Michael already had the ideal Joe Biden decoration hanging in their kitchen: a huge print of that internet-approved throwback photo . (Yeah, yeah, the hot one.) Now, that print is even better not only has it been signed by Joe Biden, it has also been blessed with a Joe Biden joke. SEE ALSO: Joe Biden met a puppy named Biden and for a moment, the entire world stopped According to BuzzFeed News , the two George Mason university students asked Biden to sign the poster after his talk Wednesday at an It's On Us" event. Unsurprisingly, he was happy to oblige and added that the photo was taken just before he met his wife. And, as he quipped, "back when [he] had hair." Read more... Labour are determined that the election campaign shouldn't be conducted on the Prime Minister's terms, so you may have noticed there that Jeremy Corbyn did not mention Brexit. Theresa May, unsurprisingly, did the complete opposite. Every vote for him is a vote for a chaotic Brexit. Every vote for me is a vote to strengthen our hand.

After my parents got divorced in 1965, I lived in a one-room apartment with my mother at 56-10 94th Street, in Elmhurst Queens. The apartment had a small alcove, and a wall was built to separate it from the rest of the space, and that was my room. Our apartment was next to the incinerator room. For those of you born before recycling, you tossed your open bags of garbage down the chute, where it was burned. Some lazy jerks couldnt be bothered to open the chute’s door, so they just left their bags of garbage (usually just open paper grocery bags) on the floor. Guess who’s coming to dinner? Unsurprisingly, we had a lot of roaches in our apartment. I became inured to them after several years; if you’ve never had a roach infestation, you’d be shocked at how awful thousands of them smell. I became so used to them, in fact, that one night I was sleeping and woke up to see a little brown figure sauntering down my arm.

It is a bookfilled with unanswered and, perhaps, unanswerable questions.” The kind of deep ambiguity and uncertainty Zen explores is not easy to write about, unsurprisingly, and in the NPR interview above from 1974, Pirsig describes his struggles as a writer—the distractions and intrusions, the self-doubt and confusion. Pirsig secluded himself for much of the writing of the book, and for much of it worked a day job writing technical manuals, which explains quite a lot about its intricate levels of technical detail. Pirsig’s descriptions of the hard-won self-discipline (and exhaustion) that the writer’s life requires will ring true for anyone who has tried to write a book. He sums up his motivation succinctly: “this was really a compulsive book. If I didnt do it, I’d feel worse than if I did do it.” But Pirsig found he couldnt make any progress as a writer until he gave up trying to be “in quotes, a ‘writer,’” or play the role of one anyway.

YouTuber John Fassold , the mastermind that broke the formula for how every Chainsmokers song is written , is back after receiving thousands of requests to give Nickelback (save us) the same treatment. So the poor man did, listening to four Nickelback albums straight through as research. After this self-imposed torture, Fassold gives us his formula to sound like Nickelback, in case you ever want to annoy everyone in a room all at once. Unsurprisingly, the keys to pulling off Nickelback are to choose the most boring drumbeat you can find, a generic riff, and then use a voice that sounds like "you have really bad indigestion." Sounds about right. Read more... More about Songwriter , Nickelback , Conversations , Watercooler , and Watercooler
