An anecdote reveals the relentlessness of Zionism. Just south of Ramallah is the tiny Bedouin village of Khan al Ahmar. The entire village would fit into any American Walmart with room to spare. Although the villagers are Israeli citizens, they are always denied building permits and forbidden to construct houses in the place they choose to live. Thus, Khan al Ahmar’s citizens live in lean-to shacks or, sometimes, in trailers provided by the Norwegian government. The village is tucked into the folds between two hills and surrounded on all sides by Israeli highways. One underpass leads to the larger world. Despite their difficult circumstances, the villagers insist on having good education for their children, and have constructed a handsome multi-roomed school out of tires and mud to serve this purpose. An Italian diplomat, visiting this little village-that-could, offered to donate some playground equipment to the school.

" It was the third announcement of US investment and job creation plans by a major company on Tuesday, just three days before Trump's inauguration. Trump quickly took credit in a pair of tweets that came shortly after announcements from General Motors and Walmart. "With all of the jobs I am bringing back into the US (even before taking office), with all of the new auto plants coming back into our country and with the massive cost reductions I have negotiated on military purchases and more, I believe the people are seeing 'big stuff.'" Monsanto shareholders last month approved the $66 billion takeover of the US company by Bayer. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2017 pending approval by antitrust officials in the US and Europe. Bayer-Monsanto, which will be headquartered in St. Louis, said its US investment will be in "global seeds and traits research and development.

After completing the sale of the company, the Dolans formed Dolan Family Ventures then acquired Analytics Media Group and formed 605 , whose segmentation and targeting services started in political advertising and have expanded to serve companies like Walmart. Given all of the "noise and the discussion about the marketplace right now" about marketers leveraging more precise audience data, Spiegel asked Dolan why 605 is starting out with a focus on the sell side. She used the words "passion" and "passionate" to describe her affinity for using data to provide better audience targeting, noting that 40 million homes are reachable via addressable linear TV. "Because our primary experience is coming from cable television and a lot of our relationships in the past have been with the programmers that's the area we want to focus on first," said Dolan.

Enlarge (credit: FBI / Aurich Lawson) A fugitive suspected of molesting a 10-year-old Indiana girl 17 years ago has been arrested after the Federal Bureau of Investigation employed facial recognition technology, according to court documents. The bureau said the suspect's US passport photo in December was run though a Facial Analysis, Comparison, and Evaluation (FACE) test, and it matched photos taken before he disappeared nearly two decades ago. Charles Hollin, 61, was arrested in Salem, Oregon last week at a Walmart where he works. He had both Minnesota and Oregon driver's licenses with his picture on them. The agency said it did not perform a biometrics analysis with those databases because they have not opened up their DMV roles for the bureau to search. The bureau noted in a court filing that the government maintains "top secret" databases containing biometric profiles.

For example, executive employees have to, among other things, supervise other workers. Here are more details on how it all works . Labor advocates say some employers have been playing games with who is considered a white-collar worker. There have been a series of lawsuits and settlements outlining how, for example, the dollar store industry classifies employees as managers to avoid paying overtime . Some workers classified as managers spent much of their time doing the same manual labor as their subordinates. Halliburton in 2015 agreed to pay $18 million in back wages for overtime to about 1,000 employees who worked as pipe recovery specialists and drilling advisers, among other jobs. The company acknowledged it had improperly classified those workers as exempt from the overtime rules. Walmart paid a $4.8 million settlement in 2012 for not paying security guards and other employees overtime they were due.
