US-backed forces in Syria have paused a military operation near the major Taqba dam amid offensive to push ISIL from the area. The Kurdish-led SDF fighters have also been battling for control of a military airport nearby. They said they were allowed engineers to check the dam, which has been at the centre of weeks of fighting and air raids. Now, the fighters say the dam is not malfunctioning.
