A mutant, see-through variety of zebrafish may be the key to understanding how to treat breast cancer in humans, new research with the fish shows. Derek Walsh, who oversees the zebrafish facility at the Boston University Medical Campus, says there are 15,000 to 20,000 fish swimming in the tanks there. Each adult fish is about an inch long, silver with black stripes, just like the kind you'd see at a pet store. Others, mutants called Casper, are so transparent that you can see their ovaries lumpy with eggs. One tank, labeled Fli1:GFP, holds fish whose blood vessels glow green under UV light. These marvelous mutants, and others, are under the charge of Hui Feng, director of the university's Lab of Zebrafish Genetics and Cancer Therapeutics, and they may hold clues to treating breast cancer. Although it might seem odd to study breast cancer in an animal with no breasts, zebrafish do have lungs, hearts, brains, eyes, and blood vessels that respond to cancer cells much as human vasculature does.

Then, when I worked at a university, I had a dean who was quite wonderful though no matter how much money I made for the university, it didnt stop him from throwing spitballs at my breasts. I'll never forget the time that my daughter, who was in high school, saw me taking a bath and crying, and she looked at me and said, I hope I never have to take a job that does that to me. I didnt have time to give my children the time they needed, particularly once I went to work. It was hard on them. I had a husband who was a very talented choral conductor, but we had all of these small children, and there wasnt a lot of money. When my job [creating a division of women's programming at Drake University] became very high-profile, that was very hard because he was supposed to be the star. It ruined our marriage. So I think Take Our Daughters to Work Day came out of looking back at what I would have wanted to do had I not actually decided on a more passive role in life.

A unique artefact that was found by archaeologists during an excavation in Bryansk was filmed in Moscow on Tuesday. The Venus of Bryansk is a little statue representing the graceful figure of a woman with big belly and breasts, and it may be a symbol of fertility and beauty of the Ice Age period. The figure is made of mammoth bones and is almost five centimetre tall. SOT, Konstantin Gavrilov, Senior researcher of the Institute of Archaeology Russian Academy of Sciences (Russian): "When the statue was found, we admired its aesthetic perfection. I have already said that it represents a plump woman, but when you hold her in your hands, you can't stop thinking of the amazing elegance of this figure - and here you can see the artistic skills of the people who made the statue. I think that her value is first of all [given by] her artistic perfection - it's a common value for the specialists, but also for people who are not in the science world.

Well, in more horrifying news, there's a Dutch game show asking male contestants to guess whether a woman (on a rotating platform) is fat or pregnant. If only this wasn't real! The new segment on Neem Je Zwemspullen Mee ( Bring Your Bathing Suit ) premiered in the Netherlands on Sunday, and it's already garnered a lot of heat... justifiably! Related: Survivor Contestant Apologizes For Outing Zeke Smith How would anyone think this wouldn't be offensive?? Especially after the show previously came under fire for asking contestants to guess whether a woman's breasts were real or fake and whether someone was Chinese or Japanese, it maybe isn't so surprising. Thankfully, after viewer backlash it's been announced the segment has been pulled. Yvonne de Haan , KRO-NCRV director, said in a statement : "The section Fat or Pregnant? was meant to show appearances can deceive.

However, this food came with a heavy price no one should ever have to pay. In exchange for food, the UN peacekeepers demanded sex from children as young as 12. In regards to the child sex ring run by UN peacekeepers in Haiti, nine children were being passed around from 2004 to 2007. I did not even have breasts, said a girl, known as V01 (Victim No. 1). Vo1 was allegedly forced to have sex with approximately 50 peacekeepers over a period of three years, between the ages of 12 and 15. One of the perpetrators was a Commandant who she said gave her 75 cents in exchange for sex. Vo1 explained that she would often sleep in UN trucks on the base. A young boy, Vo9, was 15 when he was first sexually abused by a UN peacekeeper. Over the next three years, he was allegedly forced to have sex with over 100 Sri Lankan peacekeepers, on average four times per day.
