Three propellers on a drone is a rare sight, and it's something we find surprising because it's a configuration that can have some surprising benefits. To think about why, it's worth taking a look at some of the characteristics of a three-rotor machine's flight. A Chinook helicopter in service. UNC CFC USFK [ CC BY 2.0 ]. If you think for a moment about a typical small helicopter, it will have a tail rotor. The tail rotor is there to provide a sideways force to counteract the natural tendency for the fuselage to spin in reaction to the rotation of the main rotor. With a twin-rotor helicopter such as the famous Chinook military aircraft, the tail rotor is superfluous because the tendency to rotate imparted by the front rotor is counteracted by an equal but opposite force from the contra-rotating rear rotor. If you take the counteracting forces in a Chinook as analogous to those on a multirotor, you will then understand that equal numbers of contra-rotating propellers cancel any tendency for the craft to rotate, and allow the craft to be flown .

The National Police Chiefs' Council told us that phase one of the uplift is complete, and that 640 new officers should have now begun their duties. That means there should now be 640 more firearms officers on the streets than this time last year. But that doesn't cancel out the decline of more than 1,000 armed officers that the Tories have presided over since 2010. The figures we have been given suggest there are 374 fewer armed officers on the streets of England and Wales today than there were in 2010 . The troops deployed this week in Operation Temperer are certainly filling those gaps. So are Tory cuts the reason we need the army on the streets? Theresa May said in her statement on Tuesday that the decision to deploy troops to the streets after Monday’s attack was part of a long-established plan. In fact, Operation Temperer was drawn up in 2015, when the number of firearms officers had been falling consistently for five years.

Venue cancellation and supplier failure are the main things to consider when buying wedding insurance,” says Ben Wilson of Go Compare, in The Times. “This ensures that you’re protected should the venue cancel your wedding, or if one of your pre-booked suppliers, a caterer for example, is unable to fulfil your order. To make a claim, you’ll need to have a written agreement or contract with the supplier.” Just be aware that wedding insurance wont pay out if your wedding doesnt go ahead because one of you gets cold feet. In a speech earlier this week, BMW boss Harald Kruger said, “ We will incorporate all-electric, battery-powered mobility into our core brands, as we have already done successfully with our plug-in hybrid vehicles. “By using highly flexible architectures we can avoid duplicate investments in plant and equipment and will be able to adapt our range of electric and conventional vehicles to changing demand both quickly and efficiently.” Why? The two i cars aside, BMW has been pretty slow to the electric party compared to its peers, and the decision to cancel a highly anticipated i model only seems to make things worse. However, it’s actually quite a good idea for two reasons. Instead of creating incredible but expensive models like the i3 and the i8, BMW is instead using the prestige of its existing range – which already has decades of public awareness behind it.
