Will Beaumont 20 Feb 2017 The 2017 London Classic Car Show takes place this week, from Thursday 23rd26th February. The event is being held at London’s ExCel Centre, and this year includes the brand new Historic Motorsport International show. A trio of rare concept cars spanning from 1970 to 2010 will make an appearance at this year’s show. The earliest car, Vauxhall’s SRV, was first seen in 1970 at the Earls Court motor show. Its wedge shaped body and chunky graphics are typical of the decade, but it still looks outrageous now. Image 8 of 10 Image 8 of 10 The 1988 Peugeot Oxia will also be included in the line-up of classic concept cars. With a twin-turbo V6 putting out 670bhp, the Oxia wasn't just a mere show car. Its cutting-edge electronically controlled four-wheel drive system helped harness its impressive power and the Oxia was capable of a top speed of 217mph.

The test itself takes a few minutes as the computer does its GPIB magic, and the result you are given is a graph of intensity versus frequency with that crucial pass/fail red line over which your intensity trace must not stray. You'll see quite a few intensity peaks, and you'll find they will often correspond to internal clocks or data rates. This chunky ferrite probably means someone was defeated by the EMC lab. AlexJFox [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons . It's quite likely your device will fail somehow, that's the way it is. There will be a peak somewhere over the line, and looking at its frequency you'll have an inking what's causing it. At this point you reach for the pile of accessories you brought along, and set to work trying to fix it. Copper tape over all possible joints in the casing that might leak a bit or RF, and all the ferrite chokes and clamps and rings and beads you could carry.

Disney Research Wirelessly charging an iPhone (there's a fairly chunky receiver on the back of the phone). Disney Research has achieved room-scale ubiquitous wireless power delivery. That is, Disney has created a prototype living room where 10 objects—a smartphone, a lamp, a fan, an RC car, and more—are powered wirelessly, no cables required. Unlike existing wireless power transfer solutions, which mostly require an object to be placed very close to a wireless charging pad, the objects in Disney's living room can receive power while freely roaming; you can walk into the room with a smartphone in your pocket and it will start charging. The efficiency of the system is quite high, between 40 and 95 percent, depending on the receiver's position within the room. Furthermore, a surprisingly large amount of power can be pumped into the room—about 1900 watts—before the specific absorption rate (SAR), a measure of how much energy is absorbed by the human body, reaches dangerous levels.

Inside, things are clearly Range Rover-inspired, as the overall design is so extremely similar to the Range's. However, there are some tougher looking bits and some more pragmatism built in. For instance, the chunky buttons and extra cubby space make this the more utilitarian choice. It's still a luxury car on the inside, with tons of rich leather and soft-touch materials but it's got a practical side as well. From what we're hearing, it drives like a proper Land Rover should. It's soft, smooth and comfortable while still feeling like a truck. Its seating position is high and gives a commanding view of the road and its handling characteristics favor smooth, calmer driving. While its front end is said to be accurate and the steering light, it's not a tossable car by any means, as its tall body and soft suspension make it roll quite a bit through corners.

The standard Sky Q box offers 1TB of storage, the ability to record three things at once and watch a fourth, and you can also stream to one tablet. Both boxes also act as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Sky Q premium 2TB box ups the storage, can record four things and also watch a fifth and you can stream to two tablets. There's no difference in size when it comes to the main boxes. They both measure 232 x 155 x 34mm, which is a severe reduction in footprint when compared to the current HD box - which varies in size depending on the makers of the box but the biggest measures a chunky 398 x 283 x 81mm. These main boxes are part of a bigger mesh network. The network is powered by a new Sky Hub that offers dual-band wireless 5G technology. Creating its own mesh network means that there's no additional pressure on your normal Wi-Fi connection. In fact, it will help Wi-Fi flow better through your home as each box you add to your Sky Q setup also acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The new MINI Countryman is an interesting car, as it's the largest and most grown-up MINI to ever be made. With its chunky looks, black plastic wheel arches and higher ride height, it's also the most rugged and off-road ready production MINI ever made. This sort of upsets the MINI community, as fans of the famous British brand like their cars as small and fun as possible. But one could argue that if a MINI customer needs more space or practicality, the Countryman is the car for them. So CarBuyer drives it to find out if the Countryman packs enough MINI DNA in it to make it as fun and charming as the brand's cars are usually known for. In it, we see the practicality of the Countryman's trunk and how much cargo it can actually fit. for a MINI, it's not bad at all. In fact, it's downright capacious. Plus, for a few extra bucks, you can get a MINI-branded cushion for the tailgate so you can sit down and have a picnic.

New York Fashion Week ended with a flourish on Thursday after a parade of innovative shows that gave an affectionate nod to the 1980s, with designers mixing power suits, chunky furs and metallic fabrics into lavish new looks for both day and night. During the February rendition of the twice-annual fashion week, embellished fabrics, deconstructed shirts and sparkly tops were prominent on the runway, with a palette that ranged from muted tones to bold colours, including fuchsia and cobalt...

If the following five suggestions are implemented, then the Watch 2 could end up being the best wearable around. 1. Several days of life Like most smartwatches, the Huawei Watch doesnt have the longevity wed like, topping out at around two days of life. While thats comparable to most smartphones it falls far short of what were used to getting from wrist-worn devices of old, or even modern fitness trackers. With the Huawei Watch 2 we want that life extended to at least three days, so we ideally wont have to charge it more than twice a week. 2. Multiple sizes The Huawei Watch is only available in one size, with even the pricy Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant sporting a similarly chunky design, despite being built for women. What we want from the Huawei Watch 2 is multiple sizes, so it wont look out of place on slender wrists.

A raw brick wall painted white is an accent wall with a modern touch when paired with the chrome appliances. Accessories are an important element in any home. Indoor potted plants add a green touch, and the orange pomegranates in the wooden bowl are a flash of color that adds a little personality. Stacking is a must when conserving space, the stacked crockery is both functional and fashionable . Spaced lights on the ceiling are a modish way of lighting up the apartment, they are sleek and slim as big and chunky wouldn't fit in the design concept. The book shelves add an aura of sophistication to the apartment. A glass wall with a black metal frame is a trendy way of separating the bedroom from the living area. The color scheme here is dark blue, white, light brown and grey. A dark blue shelf and headboard panels create an enviable accent wall, the shelves adding depth to the overall look of the room.

Throttle response isnt truly sharp until the revs rise beyond 3000rpm – the engine note hardening as it charges towards the limiter. It’s happy below this though, cruising at motorway speeds around the 2000rpm mark and never labouring, even in higher gears from tickover. The six-speed manual gearbox is a pleasure to use too, with a chunky action and short throw that feels entirely fitting for a car of this type. The automatic option is equally appropriate, though this is no slick, Volkswagen-style DSG – up- and downshifts are slow (even in manual mode) and the gearbox has a tendency to hunt, changing gear more than it really needs to. It doesnt shift down preemptively before corners either, preferring to kick down as you exit the corner instead. Image 7 of 32 Image 7 of 32 It will, however, still enable long, smoky burnouts, and it does suit the cruiser nature of the car well.

When asked about his transformation from chunky adolescent to world-class athlete, he protests, "I am not athletic." Game tape tells another story. The Nuggets offense increasingly runs through the second-year big man. Jokic is often fed the ball early in the shot clock, somewhere around the elbow, with his back to the basket. From there, he can work his way toward the rim to score in endless wayshe's got a turnaround, a hook shot, a sort of running floater and moreor he can distribute. His low-post passing can be mesmerizing; the night before our meeting, Jokic corralled a rebound along the baseline and flung an alley-oop over his head, beyond the Knicks defense, and into the hands of a leaping Kenneth Faried . Sometimes, Jokic will grab a defensive rebound and lug the ball up-court himself, amusing and amused as he plods. "I am really happy in that moment," he says.

Spigen Tough Armor Case The iPhone 6S is expensive and fragile, so you'll probably want to keep it well protected. In which case the Spigen Tough Armor Case would be a good choice. With MIL-STD 810G 516.6 level defence and Air Cushion technology for protection against drops it should keep your phone safe in day to day life and even through tougher scenarios like...erm...hiking and camping. It's chunky but stylish and it's even available in Rose Gold, to match the new iPhone shade. i-Blason Transformer Holster Case The i-Blason Transformer Holster Case is rubberised and textured, so your iPhone 6S will be in no danger of sliding out of even the greasiest hands. But there's a lot more going on here than that, as the Transformer Holster also features a kickstand, so you can prop your phone up on a surface, and a belt clip for those who don't believe in pockets.

5 maximum aperture, yet it's now only a little more expensive than its predecessor. It's a professional-grade lens with fast and quiet ring-type ultrasonic autofocus and a seven-blade diaphragm. It's quite a chunky lens, though, and features a large 82mm filter thread. Sharpness and contrast are excellent, though, and it's also very consistent throughout the zoom range. Colour fringing is very well controlled, and distortion is only really noticeable towards the shortest end of the zoom range. A superb lens that's also great value for money. The Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 (top) is a bit of a modern classic because of its specs, performance and price, but if you want a lens that's wider still, then take a look at this Sigma 8-16mm. It only has a 2x zoom range, but at these focal lengths the extra 2mm at the wide-angle end of the zoom range makes a big difference to the angle of view.

It's undeniably premium, but we're not big fans of the chunky design and all those pixels take a toll on the battery. If you want to wow your friends with an almost impossibly crisp screen the Z5 Premium will do the job and it's an impressive phone in most other ways too. Read the full review: Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Sony has taken everything great about its last few smartphones and put them into one package for the Xperia XZ. It's waterproof, has a premium design, a beautiful display, incredible camera tech and the best battery life we've seen on a flagship Sony phone in some time. The 23MP sensor from the Xperia Z5 is still at play here, but it comes with a number of superior upgrades. The new autofocus means you can grab some incredible action shots that you'd struggle to recreate on any other smartphone. It's a pricey choice for your next smartphone, but the Xperia XZ is one of the best on the market right now so it may be worth spending a little to get your hands on it.

READ NEXT: The best soundbars of 2017 - our pick of the best TV speakers Q Acoustics M3 Soundbar with Built-in Subwoofer - Black £299.00 Buy now Q Acoustics M3 review: Design and features The first thing you notice is how much more attractive than the average soundbar the Q Acoustics M3 looks. Perched atop its wing-like aluminium stand, the M3 seems to float in front of your TV rather than simply sit there, and its sculpted shape is a welcome break from the angular black bars I’m used to reviewing. It’s certainly better looking than the Media 4, and a touch more practical. The Media 4's deep, trapezoidal shape makes it tricky to position on narrow TV stands. While the Q Acoustics M3 is still quite chunky at 125mm deep and 70mm high, it's easier to accommodate than the Media 4. Image 8 of 8 Build quality is just as sturdy, too, and despite the slimmer profile, a similar selection of drivers is in evidence.

This leaves the finished laptop with no Ethernet. However, losing ethernet is a worthy tradeoff for the thinner package. [Surferboy] also brought the GPIO header to a female socket on the rear of the unit. It's unclear exactly what battery he uses except for a reference to the battery from his keyboard. Since a keyboard battery to be too small for Pi and display we are guessing a larger pack will be necessary. Though the Ethernet port and battery issue would probably be a dealbreaker here this has the makings of a useful and compact laptop, it will be interesting to see if it is picked up and refined by the community. Quite a few early Pi laptops used the Motorola Lapdock , a mobile-phone-into-netbook peripheral. Some others we've featured have been a bit chunky , but sometimes they can be objects of beauty . The overall length had to remain short and the prototype was just 3.67 meters (144.5 inches) long (Alpine’s A110 was 3.85 meters/152 inches and the Porsche 911 had grown to well over four meters, or 163 inches). Overall height too was very low – at under 1.1 meters/43 inches, despite a very pronounced ground clearance. Photos via Artcurial. Short upswept overhangs ensured an impressive angle of approach and departure, but most striking was the shape itself. Aggressive, short, muscular, yet chunky, the lower part of the body was a heavy-set wedge, with a lighter turret-top greenhouse atop, marked out by a striking glass section made up of the deep windscreen, which wrapped around to upswept side windows, creating a helmet-visor-like profile for the rally driver-gladiator, all set to attack the competition. Initially painted white and unveiled at the 1971 Turin Show, the prototype of the production version of the Lancia Stratos HF was a menacing, yet purposeful design that borrowed certain elements such as the bonnet-fender bulges and the beltline from the Autobianchi A112 Runabout, yet had a personality all its own.

But while it's not as cheap as the discontinued iPhone 5S, it's also still something of a bargain by Apple standards, so it's worth considering if you're on a budget too. Read the full iPhone SE review The iPhone 6S, as you probably know, is Apple's flagship from 2015. The Apple A9 processor and a chunky 2GB of RAM, up from 1GB on the previous model, make it far superior in raw power to 2014's model, and it's got some other tricks too. It's got a 12MP rear camera and an tried-and-true 8MP front-facing camera, making it the best selfie shooter Apple's put on a phone. It does sport largely the same design and screen as the iPhone 6 though and the latter in particular is starting to feel a bit dated in the face of super sharp QHD screens from rivals. Apple has at least added a new feature to the display, in the form of 3D Touch, which makes it pressure sensitive and offers new tricks for enhanced emailing and shortcuts around the homescreen.
