The Ryan Gosling of fictional clergymen would like to air some grievances. The Young Pope , primed for the meme spotlight since its inception, has now inspired a blessed series of tweets from @maddiesayswhat in which the Holy Father, who is not old, rails against the patriarchy. I feel like this is a way to sort of pass the torch to other content creators. Are you looking to connect more female creators with brands through WhoHaha? If so, does this partnership help? This collaboration feels like a case study for how we can interact with brands. This is very much on message for WhoHahalike lets use humor and lets change the world. Lets focus on women and womens issues. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. It beats the top four cancers combined, and its an issue that really needs attention. So its personal to me on that level. At the same time, its a great collaboration with a brand that sort of connects them to our content community, this group of women that were fans of, that were bringing into our offices every day, and were brainstorming with. So you make an effort to have the spots directed and written by women? Yeah, this was produced and directed by Kai Collins and Deena Adar, who have a comedy trope, Quiet Duke, and weve featured some content from Quiet Duke on our site already.

Our eye muscles are quite sluggish and imprecise, so the brain needs to constantly adapt its motor signals to make sure our eyes are pointing where they're supposed to, Maus says. Our findings suggest that the brain gauges the difference in what we see before and after a blink, and commands the eye muscles to make the needed corrections. Can you sneeze without closing your eyes? From a big-picture perspective, if we didn't possess this powerful oculomotor mechanism, particularly when blinking, our surroundings would appear shadowy, erratic, and jittery, according to the researchers. We perceive coherence and not transient blindness because the brain connects the dots for us, says coauthor David Whitney, a psychology professor at UC Berkeley. Our brains do a lot of prediction to compensate for how we move around in the world, says coauthor Patrick Cavanagh, a professor of psychological and brain sciences at Dartmouth College.

Enlarge / STYLE! For a game with Yakuza right in the title, there’s little yakuza-ing to be done in Yakuza 0 . It’s not just because the “zero” in the title marks this as a prequel to Sega’s long-running drama of Japanese organized crime, either. By the time the game starts, anti-heroes Kiryu Kazuma and Goro Majima have already been embroiled in organized crime for some time. Two unrelated events before and during Yakuza 0 split the pair from their respective gangs, however, and they soon wind up fighting against the racketeers they once worked for. Meanwhile, a real estate conspiracy across two cities eventually connects the charactersconflicts together—despite the fact that neither of them even knows the other exists. Enjoy the power and fun of a Polaroid camera without the Polaroid camera. This little standalone photo printer connects to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, and is powered by a rechargeable lithium polymer battery, so it's designed to be portable, easy and fun to use. On a single charge the gadget will print 25 photos -- without ink. Instead, it uses heat to produce deep, vibrant colors that are completely smudge-proof, on 2x3 paper that is waterproof, tear-proof and backed with adhesive so you can peel-and-stick for added fun. Paper is easy to find on Amazon and comes in packs of 20, 30 or 50 ( on sale here ). A compact and protective carrying case is also available at what seems to be a reasonable price ( found here ). The Polaroid ZIP mobile printer currently averages 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon from over 1,400 customers ( read recent reviews ).

So whether its a high-energy comedy like SuperMansion, or Snatch, which is constantly movingtheres crime elements with action and comedy mixed in that moves at a very fast pacethat really connects with the audience. Youve moved to the binge model for many of your shows and a weekly release for your comedies. Whats the thinking behind that? For our dramas, we really believe in the binge model. So we release all episodes at once, because theyre serial in nature, and once somebody gets in for serial, they want it on their terms. For a lot of our comedies, whether its Comedians in Cars or now SuperMansion, we think the weekly cadence works well, because you can dip in and dip out whenever you want. And after the period where it runs out, its all going to be on demand anyway, and you can binge at your leisure at that point in time.

The Nintendo Switch companion app is fast turning into a pretty essential part of the Switch. As well as the previously announced news that youll need to use the app in order to enable voice-chat on the console, in a recent interview Nintendo of Americas President Reggie Fils-Aime suggested that the app would be used for a lot more besides voice chat. In fact, the apps functionality actually goes as far as enabling matchmaking and allowing you to create lobbies, suggesting that your online options are going to be pretty slim without your smartphone. Smart (phone) justifications Fils-Aime justified the decision to rely on the app for voice chat by saying that most people will have a headset that connects to their phone on them at all times. As such using the phone for voice chat makes sense, as it means you dont have to carry around an extra Switch-specific headset.

We’re also releasing mappings from the NOAD senses to English Wordnet , which is more commonly used by the research community. This is one of the largest releases of fully sense-annotated English corpora. Supervised Word-Sense Disambiguation Humans distinguish between meanings of words in text easily because we have access to an enormous amount of common-sense knowledge about how the world works, and how this connects to language. For an example of the difficulty, “ [stock] in a businessimplies the financial sense, but “ [stock] in a bodega ” is more likely to refer to goods on the shelves of a store, even though a bodega is a kind of business. Acquiring sufficient knowledge in a form that a machine can use, and then applying it to understanding the words in text, is a challenge. Supervised word-sense disambiguation (WSD) is the problem of building a machine-learned system using human-labeled data that can assign a dictionary sense to all words used in text (in contrast to entity disambiguation , which focuses on nouns, mostly proper).

Clearly defining whos a social influencer, these days, is becoming more difficult. At least, thats according to Insightpool CEO Devon Wijesinghe. His platform and service has recently announced a new tool that will democratize that social influencer information. This is Insightpools new Universal Search function. In it, marketers or brands can search through publicly available information that has categorized everyone on every type of social media platform, even including the ones you might overlook at first, like Yelp or Reddit. Our society says, for now, that millennials rule social media, but they dont want to feel like theyre being sold to, Wijesinghe told Adweek. Social marketing, not paid marketing, can add contextual experience to these brands. The Universal Search tool on Insightpool connects brand with influencers of varying degress; marketers can search using broad or narrow categories, in order to get as specific an audience as possible.

German Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel stated that German-Italian partnership was "essential" especially "in times of political instability and upheavals," while speaking at German-Italian Economic Conference in Berlin, Wednesday. SOT, Sigmar Gabriel, German Vice-Chancellor (German): "The American president has recently moaned that there are too many German vehicles on Fifth Avenue. I see it differently, there are a few of Ferraris as well. It is a sign that automobile industries are strong in both countries, they are leading industries. But they are both part of a big economic and industrial chain which connects Italy and Germany." SOT, Sigmar Gabriel, German Vice-Chancellor (German): "I believe that we need a trend reversal in Europe; as companies would say 'a turnaround' in the crisis, and we need this turn economically as well as institutionally.

One of the most important skills any computer user should have is the ability to use a virtual private network (VPN) to protect their privacy. A VPN is typically a paid service that keeps your web browsing secure and private over public Wi-Fi hotspots. VPNs can also get past regional restrictions for video- and music-streaming sites and help you evade government censorship restrictions—though that last one is especially tricky. The best way to think of a VPN is as a secure tunnel between your PC and destinations you visit on the internet. Your PC connects to a VPN server, which can be located in the United States or a foreign country like the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, or Thailand. Your web traffic then passes back and forth through that server. The end result: As far as most websites are concerned, you’re browsing from that server’s geographical location, not your computer’s location. Amazon also controls a massive e-commerce marketplace, a powerful distribution channel for these hardware products. The logical progression here is a build-up of a third-party ecosystem around Alexa. Consumers will see a bounty of Alexa-enabled devices connected to one another, helping to convince them to join the greater Alexa ecosystem. An interesting trend we see with the Echo is that, once a person gets one in their home and connects a smart home product like connected lights or a thermostat, they quickly start to connect others, too. So the bigger the ecosystem, the better. The Echo, then, is starting to look a lot like a trojan horse for Amazon, sneaking Alexa into the home and hooking customers on the larger voice-controlled ecosystem. The key for Amazon is to use these devices to deepen its relationship with its customers. The more shoppers find themselves using Alexa devices, the more Amazon could chip away at the dependencies that consumers have with Google and Apple via their smartphone software.

Alex Mott 9 min 26 sec ago So you’re thinking of buying a selfie stick? It’s okay, we wont tell anyone. But if you’re thinking you can just pop over to Amazon and pick any old selfie stick, then think again – unless you want your expensive new smartphone to end up crashing floorwards, you’ll want to make sure your selfie stick is up to the task. The most common way to use a selfie stick is to take your smartphone, slide, or mount it, into place on the end of the stick as instructed by the manufacturer. The stick then connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm cable. From there, you can extend the selfie stick to full length and press the camera button built into the handle in order to remotely capture photos and videos. There are actually some real advantages to using a selfie stick. You don't have to ask a stranger to hold your phone and take a photo of you, for instance.
