KUALA LUMPUR: Eligible members of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) will be receiving a 12% dividend as a result of the board registering a higher profit or the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016. The fund saw a 5.7% increase in its earnings to RM811 million for 2016 compared with the previous year’s profit of RM766.8 million. Eligible members will receive 6% dividend and 6% special bonus in the form of units trusts amounting to RM685.5 million. The 12% dividend is higher than the average yearly dividend and bonuses paid out since the establishment of LTAT 44 years ago, which stands at 11.3% a year. For the financial year under review, LTAT’s total assets increased to RM9.5 billion from RM9.3 billion in FY2015 while members’ contributions amounted to RM8.6 billion, compared with RM9.1 billion in the previous year. “I am very pleased with the results and performance achieved by LTAT for FY2016 and hope this performance will be sustained and improved for the coming years to ensure that the welfare of the serving members and retired members of the Armed Forces is always protected,” said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The judge gave the Oklahoma AG's office until February 21 to share the remaining e-mails, which comprised more than 7,500 pages. Senate democrats tried to stall the vote on Pruitt’s nomination until the remaining e-mails were released, but they were unsuccessful. The New York Times , which had been able to see some of the e-mails ahead of time due to records requests from the paper’s own reporting, notes that the e-mails “do not appear to include any request for [Pruitt’s] intervention explicitly in exchange for campaign contributions, although Mr. Pruitt was separately working as a member of the Republican Attorneys General Association to raise money from many of the same companies.” Read 9 remaining paragraphs | Comments

With time, I am confident, that we will be able to welcome back some of our colleagues who will be leaving us at this point. And that point, we will be a self sufficient, profitable company. Daunting as it may appear in the moment, it is important that we do this now, so that we can continue on our overall mission of building a successful, profitable business that provides incredible opportunities to our customers, sellers and partners. Edward Price, who served as a CIA analyst since 2006 before quitting this year, was challenged by CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Tuesday about his political contributions to Democrats. Price resigned from the CIA last week and wrote in the Washington Post that he could not "in good faith serve this [Trump] administration as an intelligence professional." He claims that his decision to quit is not political and that he "would have been proud to again work under a Republican administration." Critics have raised questions, however, over reports on Price's contributions to the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2016. "Your critics already pointing out, you probably know this already, that you did make political contributions back in August to the Hillary for America campaign, $2,700, to the DNC, $2,300," Blitzer said to Price.

It's vital that pace and urgency of change continues and goes faster. If we are to make sure we have a police force that is fit to meet the challenges of the 21st century. I want to bang honourable friends from South Dorset and Saint Austell in Newquay for the contributions outlining the importance of transparency.

Neither Allied Progress nor its Action arm are required to disclose their donors. Mike Czin, an Allied Progress spokesman with the public relations firm SKDKnickerbocker, would not say who its financial supporters are. While that is fairly standard for a political advocacy group, Allied Progress' relationships with its fiscal sponsors provide an additional layer of opacity to its finances. Generally donors to nonprofit groups can be ascertained from financial filings by the groups that donate to them. Charitable foundations and labor unions, for instance, are required to disclose grants and contributions to groups such as Allied Progress. However, because the group is not a stand-alone organization but a "project of the New Venture Fund," as its website notes, its donors can simply list the fiscal sponsorNVF or Sixteen Thirty, as the case may be—rather than Allied Progress itself on their respective disclosures.

Both Trump and Pruitt have expressed doubts about climate change, and Trump vowed during his 2016 presidential campaign to pull the United States out of a global pact to fight it. The Republican president has promised to slash environmental rules to help the drilling and mining industries, but without hurting air and water quality. Pruitt sued the agency he now leads more than a dozen times while attorney general of Oklahoma to stop federal rules. He did not mention climate change in his 12-minute speech at the EPA's headquarters in Washington. He struck a conciliatory tone in the address, saying he would "listen, learn and lead" and that he valued the contributions of career staff. Trump is expected to sign executive orders aimed at reshaping environmental policy as early as this week. Those orders would lift a ban on coal mining leases on federal lands and ease greenhouse gas emissions curbs on electric utilities, according to a report by The Washington Post.
