Is ripping DVDs legal? As with CDs, there are no international © laws that cover ripping DVDs. For example, in 2014, UK © law was changed to legalize personal backups , but that decision was overturned by the High Court in 2015. Make sure you check out intellectual property law in your country before you start ripping. 1. WinX DVD Ripper Free Edition Not only for movies, this DVD ripper can also handle ISO images and whole folders When you install the free version of WinX DVD Ripper , you'll notice that it's actually the Platinum Edition in trial mode. Don't worry though once the demo expires you'll lose action to some of the features (mainly speed-related and a couple of specific DRM cracks), but you'll still have a powerful DVD ripper on your hands that you can use indefinitely. WinX DVD Ripper can be used to rip directly from DVDs, but it also works with ISO images, and folders of DVD files.

6 billion, far more than the $12 billion Trump cited. At a press conference on Tuesday, Senator Roy Blunt (R-Missouri), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, confirmed that he had received the $1 billion request for supplemental funding that would build an estimated 62 miles of the border wall, according to The Hill. It also includes a $2.8 billion request for border infrastructure and technology for next year as well. Blunt, a member of the GOP leadership, told reporters on Tuesday that money for the wall likely would not be coupled with a spending bill that must pass by April 28 to avoid shutting down federal agencies whose funding expires then. Blunt also said he was not willing to commit to the supplemental funding request. All of the committees, House and Senate leaderships, are working together to try to finalize the rest of the FY17 bill, he added.

Editors Note: As Hollywood braces for the possibility of its first work stoppage since the devastating 100-day WGA strike of 2007-2008, Deadline is opening the opportunity for insiders to dissect the thorny issues that created an impasse between the union and the studio reps over a new film/TV contract to replace the one that expires in May. The Arkansas government is preparing to execute eight death-row prisoners in a ten-day span, before one of its lethal-injection drugs expires. It plans to execute two people per day over four days: April 17, 20, 24 and 27. The decision is dangerous for many reasons. As has been widely discussed, the sedatives may not be safe to use and could risk prolonged, torturous deaths. But an additional set of trauma and peril must be accounted for as well: The rapid schedule will put an extraordinary burden on the men and women required by the state to carry out this most solemn act, and it will increase the risk of mistakes in the execution chamber which could haunt them for the rest of their lives. As Commissioner of Corrections in Georgia, I presided over five executions. Those executions were spaced over two years. We had a legal duty to carry them out and attempted to do so with integrity.

In a sign she might be bound for the White House, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi made a special Monday trip to meet with President Donald Trump and two Cabinet secretaries to talk about children’s issues with fellow Floridians and former football greats Tony Dungy and Derrick Brooks in tow. Bondi’s visit, which included meetings with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, gave a small indication that she’s testing the waters for an as-yet-unnamed job in Trump’s White House before her term expires in 2019. Saying she’s happy with her work in Florida, however, Bondi would not discuss her next move — despite months of speculation about whether or when she would leave. “I am working on some special projects with the White House,” Bondi told POLITICO Florida without elaborating. As part of that new project, Bondi brought Dungy (a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers football coach who has become a kids-rights crusader ), Brooks (a former Florida State University and Tampa Bay Buccaneer Hall of Fame linebacker who co-founded a Florida charter school ) and All Pro Dads activist Mark Merrill “to talk about children's issues” with DeVos and Carson, who also live in Florida.

The United States wants to cut by a quarter the troop cap for the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Democratic Republic of Congo, said diplomats, despite warnings by France and others against drastic changes to the world body's largest and most expensive operation. The mandate for the $1.2 billion mission in the central African state, known as MONUSCO, expires on Friday. The confidential Security Council negotiations on its renewal are taking place amid U.N. warnings that violence is spreading across Congo ahead of planned elections before the end of 2017. The United States wants the troop cap to be cut to 15,000, diplomats said, and despite a request by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to add two extra police units - 320 officers - Washington does not want to change the current total of 1050. Guterres told the council the extra police units were needed "in light of the increasing threat of violence related to the elections and the political situation.

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has dismissed reports that he could be sold by the club this summer. With his contract up at the end of the 2017-18 season, Ozil has been linked with a move away from the Gunners, with John Cross of the Daily Mirror reporting the Germany international and his team-mate Alexis Sanchez could be sold on in the upcoming window. Speaking to Die Welt (h/t Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports) about a possible departure, Ozil doubted whether manager Arsene Wenger would sell him. "Do you think Arsene Wenger tells the journalists [about my future] before he tells me?" he said. "I know him differently." Uncertainty has engulfed the Emirates Stadium as of late. Not only are the futures of Ozil and Sanchez currently insecure, Wenger s own deal with the club expires at the end of the season. Subsequently, the Frenchman may not be the one to decide whether or not the former Real Madrid man is sold.

McLaren to ditch Honda, keep Alonso? The risk of losing two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, whose contract expires this year, has reportedly prompted McLaren to make an exploratory approach to Mercedes to supply engines after pre-season testing dogged by an unreliable and uncompetitive Honda power unit. "We need to be competitive to keep (Alonso) happy. If we're competitive he'll be happy and if not he'll take his own decisions," warned McLaren racing director Eric Boullier. Asked by Spain's AS newspaper if he believed McLaren would be winners with Mercedes power, Boullier said: "I think we would." Asked if he was talking about as early as 2017, Boullier was categorical. "Yes, we'd be winning again," he declared. — AFP
