How exactly do golf gps watches work and what features should I look out for? Golf GPS watches help you navigate the golf course thanks to satellites as well as record and save your golf scores and statistics. Golf GPS watches include a map of the course, whereabouts you are on the course and the distances between you, your ball and the hole. You should look for a watch that includes as many preloaded courses as possible - all of them in this list have at least 30,000. As well as the basic yardage information to the pin, the more advanced models will help you with avoiding hazards by giving you the exact distance to clear them as well. If you want to be really nerdy, you may also want to think about a model that comes with a mobile phone app. Sync your watch to the app, and it will then give you information about your round when you’re back in the bar - including shots taken, the fairways you hit and the putts you took.

In September 2012, perhaps before Trump’s own presidential ambitions were so strong, he offered Obama some advice on how to better use his time on the course. “Obama should play golf with Republicans opponents rather than his small group of friends. That way maybe the terrible gridlock would end,” Trump wrote . “Playing golf with business associates creates a relaxing atmosphere where everyone has fun,” Trump wrote on Twitter in 2013. “‘That’s why so many huge deals are closed on a golf course.’” He labelled the observationTRUMP 101.” Trump also talked up the virtues of business on fairways in an interview with Golf magazine six years ago that called him the “No. 1 Business Titan.” “I've closed many deals on the golf course, and I've met many great friends on the golf courseTerry Lundgren, the head of Macy's, for example—and so many people in the real estate industry whom I wouldn't have a relationship with if it weren't for golf,” Trump said.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - Missing fairways, missing greens and piling up the putts, Tiger Woods got off to a rough start at the Dubai Desert Classic. The 14-time major winner finished the first round with a 5-over 77, failing to record even one birdie on Thursday at the ...

But it's a golf course you've got to stay patient on. "You've just got to hit good golf shots. You can't really fake it around here so it's just about continuing to play well." Lurking just behind Rose is in-form Canadian Adam Hadwin, who shot a 71 to follow up his six-under-par 66 on Thursday, and defending champion Brandt Snedeker, who shot a three-under-par 69. Hadwin, who lit up last week's CareerBuilder Challenge at La Quinta with a brilliant 59 before just being pipped for victory in the final round, said he hoped he could apply lessons from that agonising near-miss two this weekend. "I played really well last week as well and I was in contention and gave myself a chance to win that golf tournament. This is probably the best golf I've been playing in my career and it's just a matter of staying patient," Hadwin said. "Just go out and hit some fairways, give yourself some looks and you'll have a chance." — AFP

Woods hit only four of the 14 fairways in his 76, the highest opening round of a year in his 21-year career." Woods lies 12 shots behind leader Justin Rose and his opening round was "a sobering reminder of how difficult it will be to recapture even a glimpse of the glories of his illustrious past", says Derek Lawrenson of the Daily Mail . "The good news for Woods is there appeared no issues with his back despite spending much of the round gouging his ball out of the juicy rough. His short game also appeared in fine order. He suffered, however, as the round progressed and appeared to tire mentally after so long away." Justin Rose PGA Tour

Given his 17-month absence from the PGA Tour, it's perhaps not surprising nervousness and hyperbole are stalking the fairways as Tiger Woods makes his return in San Diego on Thursday.

He picked up ate shots on day three to move on to 12-under. He's one off the lead. I hit a lot more fairways today. Holed a few putts. Still to make a par-5. I chipped in an eagle. It was a really solid round. England's Tyrell Hatton is at the top of the leaderboard.

Despite overly familiar chunky visuals (Crossy Road has a lot to answer for), this fast-paced, breezy game is a lot of fun, with you dragging left and right to avoid blundering into rocks, and lifting your finger to soar into the air, aiming to catch another rampaging beast. Much like previous entries in the series, Super Stickman Golf 3 finds a tiny golfer dumped in fantastical surroundings. So rather than thwacking a ball about carefully tended fairways and greens, there are castles full of teleporters and a moon base bereft of gravity. The Ryder Cup, this is not. New to the series is a spin mechanic, for flipping impossible shots off of ceilings and nudging fluffed efforts holewards on the greens. You also get turn-by-turn battles against Game Centre chums and a frenetic multiplayer race mode. The spendthrift release is limited, though, restricting how many two-player battles you have on the go, locking away downloadable courses beyond the 20 initially built-in, and peppering the game with ads.

Jordan Spieth closed the 2017 Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii, with a flourish, but it was likely too late for the 23-year-old to begin the new year in winning fashion. Spieth posted an eight-under 65 in the final round to finish at 16 under par. Despite his impressive play Sunday, he remained five shots behind tournament leader Justin Thomas when he headed for the clubhouse. Through the first three rounds, a small handful of mistakes had an overwhelming impact for Spieth. According to the PGA Tour's official website , he reached 32 of 45 fairways off the tee and 46 of 54 greens in regulation. He had two bogeys in Round 1 and three in Round 3, however, as well as a double bogey and a triple bogey in Round 2. Golf Channel broke down his overall performance: On Sunday, everything clicked for Spieth. He had his only bogey-free round of the Tournament of Champions, and he had the lowest score of the day when he walked off the course.

The battery should last between 10 and 12 hours in GPS mode, placing it near the top of the longevity pile. Tracking your game without even lifting a pencil is one reason to wear this watch, but other GPS watches also offer automatic shot detection. A prime offering of the TomTom Golfer 2 is analysis of game data using the MySports app. This app lets you review shot patterns, so you can see if you're missing fairways to the left more than the right, for example, or you can compare the same hole across different rounds of the 40,000 stored courses. Ultimately it should make tracking your game easier when out on the course, and enable you to keep working on your game when you're back at the clubhouse. While the Garmin Vivoactive does golf it's so much more than just a golf watch. As the name suggests this is an activity tracker for steps, but also for running, cycling and swimming, and it even doubles as a smartwatch with phone notifications.
