KUALA LUMPUR: No new cases of H5N1 outbreak has been reported in the country, including in Kelantan so far, the Dewan Negara sitting was told today. Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Minister Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (pix) said however the monitoring operations were still being actively carried out by the Veterinary Services Department (JPV) in efforts to curb the outbreak. "JPV at the state level has been directed to oversee and monitor the movement of poultry from within and outside the country to detect H5N1 outbreaks. "The department also implemented the National Sampling Programme to make it compulsory to notify on animal diseases and those with an economic impact," he said during the oral question session. He was replying to Senator Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Kader who asked the ministry on the measures that had been taken by the government to ensure poultry was safe to be consumed. — Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR: The free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations between Malaysia and the European Union (EU) will include a discussion on the recent resolution by the EU parliament to phase out the use of certain vegetable oils, including palm oil, by 2020. Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Chua Tee Yong said although the resolution is non-binding on EU member states, the government viewed the recent development very seriously, as it involved a major export commodity and the livelihood of about 500,000 smallholders. "With the resumption of the FTA negotiations, we will definitely put it up for discussion," he told reporters after officiating the EU-Malaysia Trade and Investment Forum 2017 here today. He said the resolution, however, doesn't ban entirely palm oil from being exported to the EU. "It is more a concern about whether there will be additional tariff measures to be implemented," he added.

S. treasury assistant secretary for tax policy during the Obama administration, now head of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center in Washington. Uncertainty as to whether and in what shape the plan will get implemented adds to other challenges the Fed faces in trying to chart its course over the next several months. Looming threats The threat of a government shutdown and renewed debate over the federal debt ceiling late this summer or early in the fall will test both the new administration and the Fed's ability to set its policy course. Republican and Democratic lawmakers need to pass a series of bills to keep the government running, but are sparring over issues such as whether to fund a border wall with Mexico. Government closures, forced budget cuts, and a tense 2013 debt ceiling debate have thrown the Fed off course before, dragging down economic growth and idling hundreds of thousands of workers.

implemented between 2010 and 2020, 80 6% will have been taken from women's incomes. That is the context in which we debate this today, and we were some way away from gender equality before severe austerity was inflicted upon us. In the analysis, the resolution foundation concluded that the poorest third of households will be worse off from tax and benefit changes starting from the 6th of April, despite a £1 billion giveaway. Poverty is not a lack of character. Its a lack of cash, he says. Some estimates for the cost of a U.S. basic income put the cost at as much as $3 trillion a year , or 15% of total national income. That assumes paying every adult $1,000 a month regardless of their other income. But Bregman favors a form of means-testing through the tax code: whats known as a negative income tax . People above the poverty line would continue paying taxes as they do now; those falling below the line would have their incomes raised via tax credits to a level that covers their essential needs. The idea has a long history. The libertarian economist Milton Friedman proposed one version in the 1960s, and the city of Dauphin, in Canada, implemented one between1974 and 1979 . It led to no decrease in employment, an uptick in the high school completion rate, and a reduction of hospitalizations and medical costs, researchers who studied the relevant data say.

The meeting, which included the Zionist Organization’s Chaim Weizmann, decided that in the executive committee of the Jewish Agency50% will represent the Zionists and 50% the non-Zionists,” an arrangement that was finally implemented in 1927. In the event, later AJC President Joseph Proskauer observed in 1943, It was supposed to be composed of an equal number of Zionists and anti-Zionists. It was not supposed to be a Zionist body, and as always happens when a negative group is wedded to a positive group, the positive group ate up the negative group, and to all intents and purposes, the Jewish Agency became a pro-Zionist activity. Anti-Zionist Marshall had foreseen in 1918 the difficulty of resistance: “The Zionists, whether their views be sound or otherwise, are the advocates of an affirmative policy. It is one that appeals to the imagination.

The only problem is that this is an HTML file that you need to edit. While this isn't a major problem, it's a strange approach to things that could have been better implemented. Overall though, if you're looking for a quick, simple PDF and ebook reader and organizer, SumatraPDF is perfect. It really is no-frills, but it has all of the essentials covered. User experience Sumatra PDF is just about as simple to use as you could hope a program to be. Once you have loaded a PDF (or one of the other supported files), the minimalist tool bar provides easy access to the most common things you might want to do zooming in and out, skipping back and forth between pages, searching, and printing. In the majority of cases, all you'll want to do with PDFs is view them, so you may never have to venture further into the program. However, if you peek into the menus you'll find that there are more viewing settings than you first thought, as well as the option to send files via email without leaving the program and add an attachment to a message manually.

Xinjiang is home to more than 10 million Uighurs, a largely Muslim Turkic-speaking ethnic minority. And all this, he said, “acts to construct elements of Uighur identity, such as the practice of Islam, as potentially deviant and dangerous to the security” in China. Rising resentment On April 1, a new set of rules was implemented along with the ban. Those rules also prohibit so-called "abnormal" beards, the wearing of veils in public places and the refusal to watch state television. “All this time, we’ve [received] lots of complaints directly or indirectly. The situation has gotten worse particularly in the region’s south, such as Kashgar, Hotan and Aksu,” said Dilxat Raxit, a spokesman for the Germany-headquartered World Uyghur Congress. “The resentment there has been indirectly substantiated, which is [a] quite worrying [sign]," he said. "I’m afraid that it may trigger even more radical resistance from Uighurs, who find it too much to bear, if the condition continues.

Hillary Clinton had promised even steeper reductions. Trump, in contrast, has vowed to reverse Obama’s policies, lift restrictions on the energy industry and “save our wonderful coal miners” — pledges that helped him win fossil fuel-producing swing states like Pennsylvania and Ohio. And his actions will have a real-world effect, based on POLITICO's analysis of estimates from the Democratic-leaning consultant Rhodium Group and the World Resources Institute. Instead of falling, Rhodium's projection estimated that Trump’s policies, if fully implemented, will cause U.S. carbon pollution to continue more or less at current levels. That means that by 2025, according to POLITICO's analysis, the U.S. would be pumping 900 more megatons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere each year than under Obama's most ambitious target. That extra U.S. carbon would exceed the annual output of Germany, one of the world’s top greenhouse gas polluters.
