But if so, local communities must have a clear route into it. Can the Minister assure me that local Flood action groups and communities including local farmers will be properly consulted and listened to when developing the truly holistic approach to flood management that we need? The Environment Agency told me after the floods in Cumbria that the flood defences that were installed after 2009 did what they were designed to do, and they did.

In related news, Nokia also announced a new modern variant of its original 3310 mobile phone, first launched back in September 2000. Made by HMD Global, which bought the right to make Nokia phones last year, the new version retains the same name – and even includes classic game Snake – but runs Nokia's more advanced Series 30+ software. It also features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 2 megapixel camera, and a microSD slot. The new 3310 supports Bluetooth and WiFi, and comes with Opera Mini installed for basic web surfing. Talk time is said to be 22 hours, but the big draw is likely to be the featurephone's 31-day standby time. The Nokia 3310 will be available in a number of candy colors and should arrive later in the spring for the price of 52. Tags: Withings , Nokia , MWC 2017 Discuss this article in our forums

NEW DELHI: Ruling out possibility of its ATM machines dispensing fake notes, ICICI Bank today ordered a probe into an incident where a customer in Rohtak in Haryana reportedly got Rs 2,000 notes bearing 'Children Bank of India'. Apart from this, some notes were printed with 'Ek Kadam Swachhta ki Aur' and 'Bharatiya Manoranjan Bank'. ICICI Bank spokesperson said it has installed state-of-the-art note sorting machines that check the quality of millions of notes every day. "If a note, while being checked by any of these machines, fails to conform to RBI security measures, the same note is again checked manually by highly experienced bank officials. Any forged note found is separated and reported to the local police. Hence, it is not possible for a fake note to be dispensed from the bank's ATM network," it said. "We are investigating the matter," the spokesperson added.

What's better than 1 string of LED lights? 96. That's how many. Each string of the 96 has 60 ws2812b LEDs, for a total of 5760 individually addressable RGB LEDs. That's not the cool part of [jaymeekae]'s Space Tunnel installation, the cool part is that they're interactive . Starting out with some PVC piping, dark cloth was used as a backdrop and the LED strips were attached to it. Several power supplies are used to supply the voltage necessary and each strip controlled by FadeCandy chips which connect to, in this case, a Windows PC via USB. Initially, computer power supplies were used, but they couldn't supply the current necessary. [jaymeekae] used them for the first installation, but switched to better power supplies for further installations. Once the lights were up and powered, [jaymeekae] started work on the interface to control them. Starting with a used bureau, [jaymeekae] cut out a section for the touchscreen, and installed the controlling computer in the bottom half.

5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 430 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint scanner and a 3,000mAh battery. It's not a flagship line up of specs, but when you consider the Nokia 6 price is just 229 (around $240, 195, AU$315) it looks like pretty good value for money. Nokia actually launched the 6 early this year in China to test the waters, and has now go ahead with its global rollout thanks to the positive reaction generated. On screen you'l find the stock version of Android 7 Nougat, the latest version of Google's operating system, without any interface overlay or pre-installed bloatware, giving you a clean workspace. If you're feeling fancier, there's a special edition variant of this handset - the Nokia 6 Arte Black - which features a glossy 'piano black' rear, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for an asking price of 299 (around $315, 255, AU$410).

Most of them also have cameras installed in their heads, which use face recognition technology so they can customise services to specific people. Homebots put the face in interface. Image credit © Mayfield Comic-like avatars Giving a bot its own face and human-like personality is all the rage, but is that a dead-end for the zero user interface? Maybe the younger generation would like something with more of a personal touch if you can configure it yourself but we need to think beyond Japanese comic-like avatars, says Staven. Because that is almost embarrassing. The majority of bots will be used by older people, and in the workplace, and a professional, business-like bot absolutely does not chirp like a happy cat. Unifying theme What the zero UI will end up like is anyone's guess, but perhaps the most important feature is that it joins the dots between devices to become a kind of central nervous system.

While it lacks the colorful pop of the Samsung Galaxy S7, for instance, with its Super AMOLED screen, there's a vivacity that's well complemented by the longer display. What is impressive is the addition of Dolby Vision / HDR 10 support for all manner of HDR content. LG told TechRadar that it's been working with Netflix and Amazon to bring that content to the mobile app (where currently you can only get the standard shows and movies in HD) and there will be a few to choose from at launch. This means you'll get extra color and detail to your movies that are encoded in this format, bringing a superb experience to the mobile. However, we could only test this by watching the pre-installed Dolby Vision demonstration, which is always going to be impressive. It's still a curious decision by LG to use LCD over OLED for a number of reasons. Firstly, the contrast ratio (while good) is still not as deep as on Samsung's devices, with the blacks not as true as they could be (and using LCD rules out Daydream support, as previously mentioned).

Not epic, but a good start. Requests for beta testers (who had to commit to purchasing their own units this was no freebie) rolled in left, right and centre, eventually totalling over 6,000 requests to be included in the program, which quickly proved that the idea of Linux on Dell laptops had a viable and, importantly, profitable future. Internally, word got around about this cool new project that was going on. In typical geek fashion people started to donate time and resources for free (well, on Dells dime technically but no one was counting). A few lucky individuals, including Dominguez, were permanently borrowed for third line Linux server support, never to return as bigger endeavours beckoned. Power users and developers know that RAM is king when trying to develop and perform debugging. While the Gen 1 XPS was all good, the screen was a bit small for some and the amount of RAM that could be installed was a little limiting.

The Midori browser (of Raspbian fame) may not be to everyones tastes, but it is one of the best light browsers around. Likewise PCManFM borrowed from LXDE might be too simple for some peoples file managing requirements. The Ubuntu repos are, of course, full of chunkier alternatives, but these will take their toll on older hardware. Light and joyful We were particularly fond of Terminology. The default set up with the Terminus font and pulsing cursor looks modern, plus theres the awesome visual terminal bell effect. But wait, theres more terminals are all the rage, but have you seen one that can divide horizontally and vertically? [ Yes, its called Terminator Ed]. There are also some feedback effects when mouse buttons are pressed or when moving or resizing windows. Bodhi retains some nice features from the previous release too: the polite reminder that Presentation Mode exists when the screensaver is disarmed quickly, and support for apturl:// URIs (so that packages can be installed from the web browser).

By Brian Whitaker | ( Al-Bab.com ) When it comes to reporting the conflict in Yemen, Fox News is exceptionally bad. Fox has been fooling its viewers for years but now, with Donald Trump installed in the White House, the problem is becoming a more serious. Trump is a devotee of Fox News: it tells him what he wants to hear – about Iranian influence in Yemen, among other things – and he seems to trust it more than he trusts America's intelligence agencies. To make matters worse, though, Trump appears to be watching Fox News without giving it his full attention, presumably because he also has his Twitter feed and presidential business to attend to. As we saw from his reference to an incident in Sweden last week – an imaginary event which he claimed to have heard about on Fox News – he has a tendency to pick up garbled versions of what Fox actually broadcasts.

“We know there are certain systems that needed to be added to EM-1 to add crew,” Gerstenmaier elaborated. “So we have a good, crisp list of all the things we would physically have to change from a hardware standpoint. In fact since EM-1 assembly is already well underway, some hardware already installed would have to be pulled out in order to allow access behind to add the life support hardware and other systems, Hill explained. The EM-1 pressure shell arrived last February as I witnessed and reported here. Thus adding crew at this latter date in the manufacturing cycle is no easy task and would absolutely require additional time and additional funding to the NASA budget which as everyone knows is difficult in these tough fiscal times. “Then we asked the team to take a look at what additional tests would be needed to add crew, what the additional risk would be, and then we also wanted the teams to talk about the benefits of having crew on the first flight,” Gerstenmaier explained.

This Silverstone Metallic BMW M3 is a regular guest at European Auto Source and an all too familiar sight on our website. The gorgeous M3 in question often visits the tuning shop where each and every time, its visual aspects get upgraded. For this visit, the name of the game was carbon fiber. When the M3 was at the tuning shop the last time, it received a spanking brand new Vorsteiner carbon fiber rear diffuser which complemented the already installed carbon fiber JL Motoring front lip. Now, the M3 received even more carbon fiber, further refining the visual appeal of the sporty M3. JL Motoring carbon fiber side skirts round up the exterior, giving the M3 a unified carbon fiber theme from front to back. Naturally, for a build like this, only the utmost quality parts came into question: these JL Motoring parts are made out of high-quality carbon fiber and offer an UV protected clear coat.
