Would he have handed the tenner in? Absolutely, without a doubt. Hello, Sue. Good morning! We got you by surprise. What happened to you? My son was a recipient of a great act of kindness by a member of a Native American tribe. We were on holiday at the skywalk in the Grand Canyon.

On Wednesday night, the comedian and talk show host added to her collection of People's Choice Awards, officially crowning her the most honored recipient in the history of the show. 0 Alfie edition , which can be found on Thingiverse with full sizing instructions for adjusting to the recipient in Customizer. As the video below the break shows, [Marla] appears very pleased with it, and is soon mastering its ability to grip objects. This story is a fantastic demonstration of the ability of a hackspace to be a force for good, a true community organisation. We applaud [Andrew], NADHack, and all involved with it for their work, and hope that 3D printed arms will keep [Marla] with a constant supply of comfortable and affordable prosthetics as she grows up. Prosthetic hands from the maker community have featured here before, and last summer we published a look at this expanding field . Filed under: Medical hacks

S. military assistance to African countries under Trump. Many countries that receive large amounts of military aid are fighting groups that pose a threat to the United States, as well. A Trump administration is unlikely to want to hamper that effort. If there is a change in Trump's strategy, it may be an emphasis on reciprocity and holding partner nations more accountable, one analyst said. "We might see more demands, perhaps, on recipient countries of this military aid," Meservey said. "Now these countries do contribute. Oftentimes, it's with manpower — that's what they have and they can contribute — and the U.S. contributes funds and training and material so that we might see more demands made of the countries. "There are lots of bad ways to deliver military aid and there are good ways to deliver it," he added. "So there can be debates within how you deliver aid or whether you're supporting responsible militaries. So those are the debates that should be had, and they should be ongoing."

"It is imperative that Mexico investigates this crime and that all governments across the Americas take more action to promote and protect the very important work human rights activists do with so much courage." Baldenegro, one of Mexico's most prominent environmentalists, was awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize in 2005 for his work against deforestation. He is the second recipient of the prize, given to grassroots environmental activists, to be murdered in less than a year. Honduran environmental campaigner Berta Caceres, who won the Goldman Prize in 2015 for her battle against construction of a dam that threatened to displace indigenous people, was killed in March 2016. Campaign group Global Witness also urged Mexico to make sure Baldenegro's killers are brought to justice. "This crime must not be met with impunity, like the majority of these killings are," Ben Leather, a campaigner for Global Witness, said in a statement Wednesday.

A single text message could cause your iPhone to temporarily freeze and restart, according to several reports. The troublesome text won't affect devices running Apple's latest software, iOS 10.2, but could lock up phones running earlier versions of iOS 10. The string of text that is said to be triggering this effect includes a waving white flag emoji, a zero, and a rainbow emoji, as YouTube channel EverythingApplePro demonstrates , which says it heard about the bug through a tip. French iOS developer Vincent Desmurs claims to have discovered the hack, according to The Guardian . Although the message may only show those three characters, the text capable of causing iPhones to freeze also includes an invisible character called a variation selector, which The Guardian says can be copied into any iMessage. Upon receiving the message, the touchscreen and buttons on the recipient's iPhone become unusable for a short period of time, after which the device may reboot.

S. with a new initiative to develop global rules for investment competition. As I argue in my new book , Failure to Adjust , the lack of global rules restricting tax incentives and other subsidies for investment is the hole in the global rules . There are plenty of rules that make it illegal for countries to seize private investments or to harm companies with new discriminatory regulations. But there are no rules that prevent countries from showering subsidies on companies to persuade them to invest. To pick on Apple again, The New York Times recently reported that Foxconn, the Taiwanese giant that assembles iPhones in China, has been the recipient of billions of dollars in Chinese government subsidies. The fact that the U.S. remains the largest consumer market in the world gives it considerable leverage. The agreements could be international or bilateral.

Not all schools are working for the students that are assigned to them. I am hopeful that we can work together to find common ground to solve those issues and empower parents, she said. Murray's questions echoed the sentiments of the NEA and AFT, the nation's largest teachers unions with 4.5 million members. Each labor group opposes DeVos and school choice, which they characterize as privatization. Murray has received $129,000 from those unions, making her the third largest recipient of union cash behind Sen. Sanders and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D., Wis.). The 11 Democrats on the committee have received nearly $740,000 from those unions . Democrats focused many of the questions on her family wealth and the potential for conflicts of interest due to her family's investments in charter and online school chains and programs. She said that she would divest from those investments, later adding that she would only accept a $1 salary for the position.

The NEA spent more than $35 million to help Hillary Clinton and national Democrats in 2016, making it one of the top 10 biggest spenders in the country, according to the Center for Responsive Politics . Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), an avowed socialist and Clinton's sole serious challenger in the 2016 primary, has been the biggest career recipient of NEA money on the committee, raising more than $100,000 from the union's PACs, employees, and members over the course of his career. Those donations have made NEA one of his 20 largest career contributors . The AFT, a member of the AFL-CIO, was also a big spender in 2016, finishing among the top 40 contributors in the country, according to the Center for Responsive Politics . It shelled out $15 million in 2016 with nearly all of those donations going to Democrats. One of the largest recipients of AFT cash has been Sen.
