The Northern Hemisphere warmed repeatedly by as many as 15 degrees Fahrenheit in just a few decades. The area would stabilize, but then the ice would slowly grow to its breaking point over the next thousand years. Their model was able to simulate these events as well. The new model takes into account how the Earth's surface reacts to the weight of the ice on top of it. Heavy ice depresses the planet's surface, at times pushing it below sea level. That's when the ice sheets are most vulnerable to warmer seas. But as a glacier retreats, the solid Earth rebounds out of the water again, stabilizing the system. From that point the ice sheet can begin to expand again. There is currently large uncertainty about how much sea level will rise and much of this uncertainty is related to whether models incorporate the fact that ice sheets break, Bassis says.

The POTUS has other responsibilities than live-tweeting awards shows?? Who knew! As you know, Donald Trump has a long history of sending out his opinions of the Oscars via Twitter -- but this year, his Press Secretary Sean Spicer says Drumpf will be focusing on hosting the Governors' Ball instead of seeing what Meryl Streep has to say at the 89th Academy Awards. Related: Trump Roasts This Year's Best Picture Nominees When asked about Hollywood's biggest night (this Sunday on ABC at 8 p.m. EST!) during a press conference on Wednesday, Melissa McCarthy 's muse said: "I think Hollywood is known for being rather far to the left in its opinions, and I've got to be honest with you, I think the president will be hosting the Governors' Ball that night. Mrs. Trump looks forward to putting on a phenomenal event. And the first lady's put a lot of time into this event, in welcoming our nation's governors to the capital, and I have a feeling that's where the president and first lady are going to be focused on Sunday night.

Asian Horned frogs account for approximately half of the ancient family of frogs called Megophryidae. This group was previously estimated to have originated 100-126 million years ago (mya). Frogs of this family hopped alongside the famed Velociraptors and other dinosaurs during the Cretaceous period (145-66 mya). Despite the fact that these animals have been around for a long time, little is known about their evolutionary history. Furthermore, unlike their dinosaur contemporaries, these frogs did not leave behind any known fossils. Methods using information from DNA sequences exist for estimating the age of origin for such groups of animals but these methods rely heavily on fossils of related animal groups, which could prove unreliable for these species.

Supplemental information such as the FNPA is also recommended since it gives parents information that they can use to help their child. Obesity affects one in six children and teens in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The researchers say their results show there is potential to increase awareness and access to educational tools related to BMI reports. If this information prompts parents to make changes, it could help reduce obesity rates. In the paper, the researchers cited prevalence estimates that indicate more than 17 percent of American youth are obese, but very few parents identify their own children as having weight problems. As few as 2 percent of parents with overweight children and 17 percent of parents with obese children describe their children as overweight. Lisa Bailey-Davis with Geisinger Health System led the work, which was part of a larger study funded by the National Institutes of Health.

These factors are certainly important, but there is also something physiological thats happening. This mysterious mind-body connection seem to be at play in a new study published this week in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, which focused on the physical and mental health of people with psoriasis , an autoimmune disease that causes red patches and flaky scales to form on the surface of the skin. Depression is common among people with psoriasis, who often deal with discomfort and social stigma related to their condition. Researchers found that psoriasis patients diagnosed with depression were 37% more likely to also develop psoriatic arthritis a complication that involves inflammation of and around the jointsthan those without depression. Depression can lead to behaviors that could trigger psoriatic arthritis or exacerbate an existing case, the authors say.

Jordan Katsianis 23 Feb 2017 Fans of the Fast and Furious films may recognise the Lykan Hypersport from the series’ latest instalment, where it leaped between buildings hundreds of feet up in the air. Away from the big screen though, the Hypersport is a real car – but is it one that’s worth our attention? Built by Middle Eastern start up WMotors, the Lycan Hypersport utilises running gear from RUF , the noted Porsche tuner. It shares its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine with the mid-engined RUF CTR3 . The Hypersport also shares its mid/rear engine layout and gearbox options (a seven-speed PDK or six-speed sequential box) with the CTR3, it would seem that under the carbon skin the two cars are quite closely related. Image 2 of 7 Image 2 of 7 Bearing the same 769bhp and 708lb ft figures as the RUF, the Lykan should at least back up its looks with the speed you would expect of a seven figure supercar.

Curtis Moldrich 45 sec ago Cars Named the the Mercedes AMG F1 W08, the new car keeps to the 2017 rules, so it’s much wider than before. However, at the rear of the car at least, the team has been able to keep things streamlined, with tight bodywork stretching over the engine and gearbox area. That means there’ll be more airflow to the rear wing and diffuser, two areas critical for generating all important downforce.
