The United States faces a growing threat of information warfare attacks and needs new strategies and organizations to counter it, national security experts told Congress this week. John C. Inglis, former deputy director of the National Security Agency, said cyber attacks are only one form of influence, propaganda, and disinformation attacks being waged in the cyber war of ideas. "Cyber warfare, in my view, is not a standalone entity," Inglis told a Senate subcommittee hearing Thursday. "When you're talking about information warfare, it's at that top-most stack, and it does not necessarily comprise of an exchange of tools or an exchange of literal warfare. It is, in fact, a conflict of ideas." Inglis called for a new approach to information threats. "We need to stop reacting well and thinking that we've therefore done good and start to drive and perhaps lead in this space and at least anticipate well or track well," he said during a hearing of the Senate Armed Services subcommittee on cyber security.

Later this year, John McAfee plans to launch a smartphone which boasts such tight levels of security that its streets ahead of the likes of the Blackphone . The security expert (who founded the eponymous antivirus company which is now a standalone firm separate from Intel, incidentally) talked to Newsweek about the handset, which he said was the result of enormous investment. The John McAfee Privacy Phone someone certainly likes using their own name in their creations is an Android handset which will not just sport software security features, but also hardware measures. The latter will include a bank of switches on the rear of the device which allow the user to actually physically disconnect components such as the antennas for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, and also the battery, camera, and microphone.

DEC produced a succession of minicomputers in their PDP line, of which the most successful was their PDP-11 series. These were 16-bit minicomputers that remained in their product line from their launch in 1970 through to the early 1990s, and were available in a succession of configurations and physical form factors. The famous view of a PDP-11 is of a set of floor-to-ceiling racks, but there were also standalone terminal models, and desktop models. One of these, a PDP-11/03 from 1975, has come into the hands of [Joerg], and he's used it to craft his LSIbox, the PDP11/03 card frame packaged with a BeagleBone for access via a modern-day interface . It's a build in the vein of modern tube audio amplifiers that feature the retro hardware on the top of their cases, the card frame is exposed as a feature on top of a white case that is featureless except for a genuine PDP-11/03 front panel.

MUMBAI: Telecom may be sizzling at present, but investor interest in the towers sector has gone cold, with valuations having slipped 20-25% in the four months since January. Several negotiations have gone awry, the latest being for mid-sized Tower Vision’s portfolio of around 9,000 towers. Kotak Mahindra and Axis Bank ran a full process but the deal has been put on hold. Sources in the know said there was a significant valuation mismatch between sellers and the potential private equity buyer. American Tower Corporation bid for Idea Cellular’s 9,000 standalone towers and Vodafone India’s 12,000 but both deals are being renegotiated. A senior industry executive said, “The value of Idea and Vodafone’s standalone towers halved the day the merger was announced,” partly because of sentiment and partly because cost-saving assumptions under the merger required a rental rationalisation.

MacOS 10.13 Wishlist: Apple News App Apple’s News app on iOS is one of the best designed and most powerful mobile newsreaders. We’d love to see Apple take that design and port it to macOS as a standalone app, so we can not only browse the news, but also sync your saved stories to our desktops. MacOS 10.13 Wishlist: Synced Notifications Between macOS And iOS With Continuity and Handoff you can begin many tasks on your Mac and pick them up right away on your iOS device (or vice versa). But one thing you can’t do is sync notifications across devices. We’d love for this to be an ability in macOS 10.13 and iOS 11. This way, when you’ve already checked Mail messages on your iPhone the notification for that message would also be cleared on your Mac. MacOS 10.13 Wishlist: A Completely Revamped iTunes Apple has a software hit with the new Photos for Mac app, which is a complete revamp of the old iPhoto app.

Vance ( The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story ). The Mummy reboot crew Alex Kurtzman is directing The Mummy , taking the directorial reins over from Andrés Muschietti ( Mama ), who dropped out of the project. Kurtzman previously directed People Like Us . Kurtzman also co-wrote with his former writing partner, Roberto Orci, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Cowboys Aliens , and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 . The director has long-considered the difficult balance between serving the needs of the standalone and the larger cinematic universe. "The only way to build a universe is to not think in terms of building a universe. You have to make great individual movies, first and foremost, and if you do that, then the audience will follow you." "So that has been the goal in making The Mummy . It’s not so much 'build a universe,' it’s 'make a great Mummy movie.

Previously, Call of Duty allowed for co-op play through small, self-contained, objective-based levels. In Call of Duty: WWII, that could be different. Stated in the leaked marketing copy, the co-op mode is listed as a “new and original story” that’s a “standalone game experience” – suggesting more than simply a bunch of co-op missions. Little is known about the single-player campaign too, but as it seems to cover the Normandy D-Day landings, it’s likely to follow the story of the war in Europe. Call of Duty: WWII should, hopefully, be a respectful tale See related Best gaming monitor 2017: The 10 best PC monitors for 1080p, 1440p 4K gaming HDMI vs DisplayPort vs DVI vs VGA vs USB-C: Every connection explained plus how to get 144Hz It’s tempting to look at the Call of Duty franchise and think little more than “bros” being “bros” as you 360 no-scope someone from across the map.

" The film is being co-penned by Joe Robert Cole, who recently worked on the excellent miniseries The People Vs O J Simpson. Chatting to Slashfilm , he talked about how the Black Panther story will begin. “Our standalone movie will begin shortly after Civil War ends. So we’ll be able to see him mourning and him starting to take command as king of his own nation. Lots of things are going to occur within regards to that”. We’re promised too that the rise of Wakanda will “affect the MCU moving forward”. Make of that what you will. Marvel have also released an official synopsis for the film: "Black Panther follows TChalla who, after the events of Captain America: Civil War, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, TChalla’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.
