What do you do when you're bored? When a trio of Australian friends, Hoss Siegel, Josh Spiegel and Ross Koger, found that they "had a severe lack of creativity in our lives" they decided to do something about it. Their solution: Get a bunch of friends together, build cardboard suits of armor and get into a Braveheart- style battle. That was way back in 2002 and Boxwars , as it's come to be known, has exploded in popularity, featuring regular battles with ever-crazier constructions entering the fray. Here's what this lunacy looks like in action: There are only four rules in Boxwars: 1. "There are No Winners, Only Losers." "Boxwars is both art and destruction using the near perfect medium of cardboard. The point is to build something from cardboard, then destroy it, which destroys the point. The battlefield is a place of contradictions + borrowed originality which sets a perfect stage for war.

People are being told to call 999 if they spot any more mystery blue barrels washing up on Cornish beaches and not to approach them. Two such drums came in on the tide at St Ives within the past five days. Unsure if the contents were hazardous, the fire service took no chances and cordoned off the beaches on both occasions. The first barrel was discovered on Porthmoer beach at St Ives on Saturday. A specialist fire team from Penzance wearing hazardous material suits were called to collect...

Of the few security cameras I have tried (Canary, Piper, Blink), Canary is easily my favorite . It automatically turns to away mode when I'm not around, records short clips when it detects motion, lets me turn the privacy feature on when I'm there, doesn't require any constant fiddling on my part, and integrates with Wink for a lot of automations. I find that the free plan suits me with its 24 hours of recorded motion clips and unlimited bookmarks and downloads, but if I were to travel or get more cameras like that spiffy new Flex , I'd surely need the Membership plan. What resulted appeared to be a one-pot dish that was somewhat of a combination between spicy, creamy and sweetish, but which went well with steaming hot rice. On Jan. 11, members of Turkeys parliament gathered in Ankara to debate a package of constitutional amendments that includes a dramatic expansion of presidential power. Perhaps it was only fitting that it quickly devolved into a fistfight. During the heated debate, opposition lawmakers took control of the parliament chairs seat in an attempt to filibuster or block the amendments from moving forward. Deputies from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) protested, and moved in to retake the stand. A filibuster is one thing, but a physical occupation of the chair was against parliamentary procedure, they later argued. Punches were swiftly thrown. Video footage of the incident shows a frenzy of MPs pushing and shoving each other. In one photo, AKP lawmaker Ravza Kavakci Kan looks on at the rugby scrum of men in suits. Her arms are folded, her lips pursed in a look of utter disappointment.

Your personal style is your way of expressing and distinguishing yourself. So what does it say about you if you’re toting around a drab black laptop that looks exactly like everybody else’s? Giving your device a makeover that complements your personality and interests will not only help you stand out from the crowd, it can increase your productivity by energizing you whenever you use it. Here are a few ways to get started. 1. Choose a PC with some pizazz The standard advice is to choose a laptop that suits your lifestyle. If you travel a lot for work or are otherwise always on the go, a thin-and-light notebook is best. Chris Modoo, creative manager for the Savile Row tailor, on his pick from its recently unveiled AW17 collection In Depth Chris Modoo Wednesday, January 18, 2017 - 11:38am My favourite piece has to be our grey change coat. We first launched the shape three or four years ago when we were working with [Savile Row tailor] Edward Sexton. It's an old-fashioned term for a sports jacket that's slightly more urban. Sports jackets were very tweedy, very country, and we wanted something that would do the same job but with a different sensibility. This new take is cut quite slim, so you can style it as both a sports jacket or an overcoat and get a lot of wear out of it. It's made from cashmere and has a fur collar, so it's very luxurious, but suits a lot of occasions. The Americans call it a topcoat; it's similar to a large jacket and you might simply wear it over a sweater, as well as with a more traditional jacket, shirt and tie combination.
