If you still have a drawer full of slap bracelets from the 1990s because, you know, they might come back, then you'll appreciate [Vorticon's] latest project. Sure, we see lots of weather stations, but this one is controlled by a TI 99/4A computer. This home computer from the 1980s was actually ahead of its time with a 16-bit processor. The sensors use Xbee modules and an Arduino Uno. Of course, the Uno has more power than the TI computer, but that's not really the point, right? He's made a series of videos detailing the construction (you can see the first one below, but there are five, so far). Normally, talking serial to the Arduino would require assembly language on the TI computer. However, TI hacker [Rich Gilbertson] already fixed that. He created Rich Extended BASIC (RxB), which has a CALL IO statement that was perfect for [Vorticon's] needs.

The environment allows for the person to easily slip into an altered state of consciousness, and with practice through successive sessions, users report being able to explore deeper and deeper aspects of their psyche and consciousness with improved efficiency each time. As a person gets better at letting go a bit more each time, they come to a point where they release the attachments to identity, and by doing so become connected to a source of energy and awareness like never before. Within the first 15-20 minutes, users report experiences wherein they observe themselves and their lives with a new transparency, gaining clarity on things such as their behaviour, relationships, and thought patterns. As time goes on within the chamber, the mind and soul become completely segregated from the body, wherein some can experience the god-head,' or the feeling of complete oneness with the universe and the source of love and light.

Torpor , now published in the UK for the first time, is the third book in the trilogy that began with I Love Dick . Set in 1991, it’s about an experimental film-maker, Sylvie, and her French theorist husband, Jerome, who travel to Romania intending to adopt an orphan. Kraus lives in Los Angeles, where she is professor of writing at the European Graduate School. Have you seen Jill Soloway’s adaptation of I Love Dick ? Yes. Of course, they’ve changed it. But one brilliant thing they’ve done is to tap into the phenomenon of the book, the way it now has a life of its own, people taking selfies with it, and so on. There’s an episode where the focus goes off the trio and on to the other women in the ensemble, and they all write their own letters to Dick, which was something some readers really did do, online. One reviewer is quoted as saying that our next music guest's latest album is exactly what music should be all about, unpretentious, sincere, and expressed beautifully. And perhaps this is why Umgidi Trio and One Voice Vocal Ensemble - Inner Dimensions earned this Umgungundlovu born pianist a Best Jazz Album nomination at this year's South African Music Awards. Nduduzo Makhathini has been dubbed as one of the "greatest pianists South Africa has seen in a long time and we can think of a better creative to help us celebrate International Jazz Day. The first attempt at building the box resulted in a warped tube, due to the stresses of welding. [Jeremy] was more careful the second time, moving from section to section of the four welds. This kept the heat from building up, and the box stayed straight. The final result is an incredibly rigid machine which definitely will withstand anything that [Jeremy] can throw at it. If you want to see more belt grinders at work, check out [Bob]’s treadmill belt grinder , or [Mike's] conversion . Filed under: tool hacks

WHCD by videosuploaded5566 We're sooooo glad Donald Trump didn't spoil the White House Correspondents' Dinner ! Hasan Minhaj hosted the, well, weird night, and he delivered some jokes -- and that included a good handful of ones about Trump even though he didn't want to be involved. He touched on Russia, Trump's NUMEROUS problems with the press, and all the issues facing minorities and basically everyone Trump is attacking. The comedian also took some time to roast the Trump kids who have foolishly supported their dad just because he's that, their dad. But our fave part had to be Minhaj calling out Trump as a liar because that is straight up what he is! It's not even a joke! So unless you are Trump himself, watch and enjoy the roasting (above)!

Iran says its foreign policy towards the United States is firmly established and will not change with new administrations taking office in the US. Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan was speaking to Russian media. He ruled out any mediation between Tehran and Washington, adding that there will be no dialog for the time being. He noted that the two countriesrelations could be resumed only if Washington changes its current policies. According to the Iranian minister, Tehran is not willing to violate the nuclear deal and will not give a pretext to the other side to accuse it of breaching the agreement. Further in his interview, Dehqan accused Saudi Arabia of acting on behalf of America and Israel by spreading sectarianism in the region. Ok, so it's time again to compare the BMW M3 with the Mercedes-AMG C63 S and the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio . It seems as if journalists just can't get enough of these three together and neither can we. This time, though, there's a twist. Which ever car is the fastest of these three in a drag race has to take on the mighty HSV GTSR W1 (which is possibly the worst car name in the history of the automobile. Did they name it after an MRI machine?). If you don't know what the HVR is, it's a 636 hp rear-wheel drive Australian monster built on the same platform as the Chevy SS. First up is the two Germans, as the BMW M3 Comp Pack, in this case, takes on the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. It should be a pretty straight forward race. The M3 makes 444 hp and the AMG makes 502. And it ends up being that straight forward, as the AMG takes a commanding early lead that it never relinquishes.

If there's anyone who needs coffee, Tom Hanks believes it's a White House press corps' reporter. He bought an espresso machine for the entire stable of White House reporters because "those poor bastards" need it, the actor said Friday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. SEE ALSO: Watch The Circle' cast awkwardly roast Twitter's CEO on his own site Here's the clip: Hanks did the same when George W. Bush and Barack Obama were president, but there are a few hints that this time, the espresso machine was purchased with a bit more meaning. First, there was the note he sent along with the machine.
