My son and I recently attended indie rock trio BETTY's annual holiday show at City Winery, which included a powerful spoken word performance by feminist icon Gloria Steinem. Loyal fans and followers filled the New York City venue, and conversation was buzzing about the election, women's equality, and what the results meant for women's rights. By the time we left for the evening, my son and I had been deeply moved by a message from the show and its messengers: The future will be much more impacted by how women respond to the election results instead of the results themselves. Look at Each Other As we've heard President Obama do in recent days Steinem and BETTY song after song challenged us to rise, and acknowledge that the power is in the people. "Look at each other. Don't look up or around, look at each other," challenged Steinem. As millions of women prepare to march around the nation in solidarity with Women's March for Equality in Washington D.

Trump adviser poisoned, almost killed By Alex Thomas Long time political consultant and Trump adviser Roger Stone has revealed that he was almost killed after being poisoned with what doctors believe may have been Polonium. Appearing on the Alex Jones Show, Stone detailed this unbelievable assassination attempt, including that he had originally thought that he had a simple stomach virus before becoming extremely ill. “I became extremely ill, this manifested itself in over 14 days of high fevers, delirium, night sweats, I had lesions on my chest and my face. I had extreme diarrhea, I had vomiting that could not be stopped with medication. I became exceedingly dehydrated and ultimately had to be hydrated with IV and saline injections,” Stone shockingly revealed. After going through an extensive series of tests with multiple doctors in Florida, Stone was told that he was literally poisoned.

January 11, 2017. The day not-my-President-elect Donald Trump had a Hollywood-worthy showdown with the media during his first press conference in five months. The only thing missing was the cheesy soundtrack from a Sergio Leone Spaghetti western. We'll give this one to Trump. The losers? CNN, its reporter Jim Acosta and the entire 4th estate. What happens next will determine whether the media survives the Trump era and continues to play a central role in American politics and daily life, or if it limps away a sad broken footnote in the most bizarre, divisive administration in history. It's definitely time to sound the alarms, as we've entered unchartered territory. The media should be terrified, as its very existence is in grave danger. Trump and the press have raced right past whatever honeymoon normally exists and have stage-dived into the contentious, punitive phase of this dysfunctional relationship.

Vin Diesel may be known for being fast and furious , but he really just wants to sing (and maybe dance ). When the actor stopped by The Late Late Show on Wednesday, he begged James Corden for a chance to audition for Carpool Karaoke . Corden was more than willing to let the x Xx star try out. However, because the show is designed around singers like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Justin Bieber (and Michelle Obama, of course) singing along to their own music, the question was what would Corden and Diesel sing in the car? Luckily, Diesel came prepared for that question. With a little help from Corden, Diesel proved his mettle, by singing a few bars from Consider Yourself from the 1960 musical. The audience cheered the performance, and Diesel turned to them to ask, How many of you wish you could do Carpool Karaoke? Am I entitled? Can I get a shot here? Can I do Carpool Karaoke? Can I do it in New York City in my hometown? After that audition, Corden just might consider it.

And even if they don't use relays to do it, most FPGAs use mux-based logic inside. So it's worth your time to dig into the past and see how simply switching between two connections can make a computer. Mux Mania How do you go from a two input mux to an arbitrary logic gate? Simple, if you paid attention to the banner image. (Or try it interactive ). The mux symbols show the inputs to the left, the output to the right and the select input at the bottom. If the select is zero, the 0 input becomes the output. If the select is one, the 1 input routes to the output. Obviously, a relay with two poles can act like two gates (the input at the bottom has to be the same for both gates). You can also work out a buffer (swap the inputs of the NOT gate), or A OR NOT B and A AND NOT B. It is also possible to do things like wired OR with relays.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova urged for the Kremlin to receive more information, in Moscow on Monday, after the state TV channel, RT, was temporarily blocked from posting anything but text to Facebook. Zakharova was speaking after RT was notified that it would be blocked until 22:55 local time (19:55 GMT) on Saturday, due to an alleged infringement of rights over a livestream of President Barack Obama’s final press conference, but the ban was lifted around 19:00 (16:00 GMT). The Foreign Ministry spokesperson recommended that "a list of all those violations that took place” should be made, adding that it “is necessary to wait for the official answers.” Zakharova recalled that her own Facebook account was once blocked “due to technical issues,” but after “the relevant changes were made, the post on the account was unblocked.

In addition, on five separate occasions during this period, the annual global temperature was record-breaking in 2005, 2010, 2014, 2015, and 2016, respectively. Land and ocean global temperatures in 2013 from both NASA and NOAA. Credit: NASA. With regards to the long-term trend, average global temperatures have increased by about 1.1° Celsius (2° Fahrenheit) since 1880. This too represents a change, since the rate of increase was placed at 0.8° Celsius (1.4° Fahrenheit) back in 2014. Two-thirds of this warming has occurred since 1975, which coincides with a period of rapid population growth, industrialization, and increased consumption of fossil fuels. And while there is always a degree of uncertainty when it comes to atmospheric and temperature modelling, owing to the fact that the location of measuring stations and practices change over time, NASA indicated that they were over 95% certain of these results.

SOT, Wolfgang Gehrke, Die Linke member: "I would like to make it clear and understood, both in the Bundestag and in society, that peace in Europe can only happen with peace with Russia. And you can't believe that this action will be considered a declaration of peace to Russia. If one starts up a Cold War with Russia again, then it destroys what has been built over decades, and I do not want for that to be destroyed." SOT, Roderich Kiesewetter, CDU/CSU member: "Russia has carried out 12 drills in total, of 38,000 to 95,000 - as recently as September, 2015. In part, over five to six thousand kilometres in distance and each time with the inclusion of nuclear plans. All of that was unannounced, this NATO drill is transparent, open and announced. And, first and foremost, it earns the backing of our NATO partners." SOT, Elisabeth Motschmann, CDU/CSU member: "I will say once again that it is already recognised that our NATO partners - Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia - have asked for this protection.

Enlarge / STYLE! For a game with Yakuza right in the title, there’s little yakuza-ing to be done in Yakuza 0 . It’s not just because the “zero” in the title marks this as a prequel to Sega’s long-running drama of Japanese organized crime, either. By the time the game starts, anti-heroes Kiryu Kazuma and Goro Majima have already been embroiled in organized crime for some time. Two unrelated events before and during Yakuza 0 split the pair from their respective gangs, however, and they soon wind up fighting against the racketeers they once worked for. Meanwhile, a real estate conspiracy across two cities eventually connects the charactersconflicts together—despite the fact that neither of them even knows the other exists. Time is a huge cause of our everyday stress. It's always either passing too slowly or too quickly. In an attempt to make watching the time feel different, Bina Baitel Studio has created the Lash Clock. So named because it looks like a ring of eyelashes, the clock does actually tell time. Gaps in the fringe of hair denote the hour and the minute, and the gaps move ever so slightly as time passes. According Bina Baitel Studio's website, the Lash Clock "ignores the stressful codes we are used to when facing the passing of time." The website also features the clock with both black and blonde hairs. Read more... More about Lifestyle , Design , Clock , Watercooler , and Video

Antony Ingram 19 Jan 2017 The auction season is kicking off again, and if the RM Sotheby's Arizona sale is anything to go by, we'll see plenty of hugely desirable metal crossing the block over the course of 2017. Last year, the Arizona sale saw a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster sell for the incredible price of $9.9 million. If anything gets that close this year it'll be another Mercedes-Benz - a 1939 540K Special Roadster by Sindelfingen, with a $7.4m to $8.4m estimate. evo 's tastes are (a little) more down to earth, but several of our picks are set to cross the million-dollar mark. Two Ferrari supercars are among those (actually three, but we've selected F40s several times in these auction previews so it's time for a change), a 1995 F50 in black expected to make $3m-$3.5m, and a 2003 Enzo undercutting it slightly with a $2.7m-$3m estimate.

This is just the beginning, Weiss said. Bai Brands makes of Bai, Bai Bubbles and Bai Antiwater beverages, which claim to use healthier ingredients than many beverage companies while maintaining great flavor. Ive been a fan of Bai for a long time, and when I met Ben and his team, it became clear that I should be involved with this brand, Timberlake said in October when he signed on. As a father and someone who is cautious about what my family and I consume, I love what Bai stands for. This partnership was created from a shared desire to help people put better ingredients in their bodies without sacrificing taste. Timberlake appeared in a Super Bowl ad for Pepsi in 2008. He was also involved in the notorious wardrobe malfunction incident with Janet Jackson during the halftime show of the 2004 Super Bowl. Below, check out last years Horse Whisperer spot from Bai.

[Oliver Tolar] and [Denis Herrmann], two students from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), designed and produced a 3D printer prototype that has a movable printing bed that can tilt. By tilting, objects with critical overhangs can be printed without the additional support material. The printer has six axes, three axes control the print head as usual and three other axes control the printing bed, allowing a wider range of movements. The students claim that besides saving on the support material this printer can actually save time while printing objects that need a lot of support since, we assume, it's faster to tilt the bed than to print the support itself. In normal 3D printers the plate is always horizontal and the print object is built up in horizontal layers. In this printer, for large overhangs, the printing bed is held in such a way that the print object is pivoted until perpendicular to the print head.

Monday's much anticipated announcement by Ford South Africa resulted in the issuing of a voluntary safety recall for all Kuga's 1.6 Litre vehicles. The recall is limited to 1.6 Litre Kugas manufactured between December 2012 and February 2014. Other Kugas including the 1.5 Litres and 2 Litres are not affected. The decision by Ford SA has been received with mixed feelings by Kuga owners in general, and the Jimmy family in particular. Their member Reshall passed on in December 2015 after his Ford Kuga caugth fire. The family says it is prepared to expose Ford SA for hiding the truth, and have also threatened to bring a class-action suit against the manufacturer. But where to from here for the owners of the 48 Ford Kugas which have caught alight so far? For more news, visit: http://www.sabc.co.za/news
