Her daughter and another girl accompanied a friend to her home. The men confronted them on their way back. "The men pulled up in a car alongside them and told them to get in. When they refused, they pushed them into the car and drove off," Abdirahman said. "They were taken into the car forcefully and then the men turned on music. They took them to the outskirts of the town and they did the ugly things that you have heard [about]." Abdirahman said her daughter was brutally beaten and tortured because she told the men, "You have to kill me to rape me." Abdirahman was at her daughter's bedside at a hospital in the town of Galkayo when she talked to VOA. Local officials and religious leaders have condemned the attack and have vowed to seek justice for the victims. Hassan Salah Ayahle, the mayor of Goldogob, said authorities took the two girls to the hospital after the incident and then immediately started searching for the perpetrators.

From VanderPloeg's perspective, that is taking a toll on student results. Johnson says the students benefit from the division of responsibilities — and so does she. She admits that she still stays late and comes in early, but the difference is that she gets to focus on teaching her students. She says a friend approached her at a party recently, commenting, Stephanie, have you been losing weight? You look so good. I don't know, you just look so good. Johnson replied, Oh, that's my new job. That's what you're seeing on my face. It's my new job. Copyright 2017 KUER-FM. To see more, visit KUER-FM .

Google Maps is all about helping people find their way, be it going to a friend's place or wandering around an unfamiliar city. Now, it seems Google Maps may now also help users handle one of the more frustrating parts of road travel: parking. It appears Google is working to show parking availability for users taking driving directions on the Google Maps app, according to Android Police . The source's breakdown of the feature - which is currently rolling out for select users in Maps' v9.44 beta - gauges the difficulty of parking at the user's target destination. This ability gives the driver a heads-up if parking will be a breeze or a pain in the you-know-where, making it easier to know when to start looking for a space before getting trapped in gridlock or inside a particularly contentious parking lot. The parking availability feature does not yet appear to have rolled out yet for all beta users, making it unclear how long we can expect to wait before it makes its way to the public.

During a conversation with MSNBC's Mariana Atencio, Rep. John Lewis (D., Ala.) corrected his previous statement that he had never missed an inauguration. During an interview on Meet The Press, Lewis said he would be skipping President-elect Trump's Inauguration, It will be the first one that I miss since I’ve been in Congress. You cannot be at home with something that you feel that is wrong.” When speaking to Atencio, the congressman corrected himself, We made a statement, we issued a statement much earlier that we did not attend the first Bush inauguration. That is factual. Atencio sought to clarify why Lewis skipped the Bush Inauguration, because you did not consider him a legitimate president at the time? No, we didn't attend it like so many other members of congress did then, but President Bush is a friend of mine, Lewis responded.

I n the rainforest. Wearing a bandana and a loincloth, and wielding a chainsaw instead of a machete, he knew exactly what to do. Werner paused and took a sip of wine. The Peruvian native tied the bandana around his thigh, pulled the knot tight, pulled the throttle on the chainsaw and cut off his leg above the knee. Looking with earnest concern, I manage to utter, Really? Werner smiles, He lived. If you havent seen the film Fitzcarraldo , you should. Its not just about the vain and misguided attempt of a wayward Irishman to build an opera house in the Peruvian jungle; its the story of Werner Herzog , world famous director. When I made this observation to Werner, he merely smiled, maintaining his enigmatic persona. Dining in Dallas with my new friend and co-creator was turning out to be everything I could have hoped for.

Magic Mike, thank heaven, is no warlock. Anyway, the area chapter of the ASP was meeting at a bar in Columbia Heights yesterday at 4:30—or so I thought when I made the two-and-a-half mile trek up there from McPherson Square only to receive a message when I was two blocks away informing me that I had gotten the date wrong, no doubt on account of my fevered state over the weekend, and that the meet and greet had occurred on Sunday afternoon. My cab ride back to the office was a very sad one. Still, I am not despairing. There is so much to cover this week: at least one inaugural ball, a gay dance party outside Mike Pence’s house, the lunatics who plan to hand out dope in plain sight before the inaugural parade, my old friend Julian Raven, the former abstract expressionist painter and proud immigrant who predicted Trump’s victory to me back in January, and, of course, the Million Woman March.

Or they do what I call Nanny Speed-Dating: they pick a day, invite ten candidates to meet them at Starbucks, interview each one for an hour, and then hire the person they like best. I also know plenty of parents who don't even bother to interview multiple candidates--they just hire the cousin of their best friend's nanny, or a neighbor's former nanny, because they become overwhelmed and don't want to bother with an extensive search. Unfortunately, all of these too-common approaches are rife with pitfalls. The problem with the interview-first approach, as Karen learned, is that it wastes a lot of time. Unless you figure out your exact needs and job criteria at the outset, you will spend a lot of energy meeting with candidates who ultimately, for one reason or another, aren't right for the job. No parent--especially an exhausted parent with a newborn--wants to spend any more time on their nanny search than is absolutely necessary.

The Israel Security Agency and personnel from the Land Crossings Authority, which manages the Kerem Shalom border crossing, are responsible for preventing smuggling. The volume of goods transferred from Israel crossing to the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom rose 13% last year. Ministry of Defense figures show that 175,000 trucks carried goods of various kinds to the Gaza Strip in 2016, and that 1,126 smuggling attempts were stopped. The Ministry of Defense today attributed the rise in attempts to smuggle goods to the Strip to an increase in the number of trucks authorized to carry goods to the Gaza Strip, the closing of many smuggling channels to the Gaza Strip from Egypt by way of Rafiah, and Hamas's efforts to rebuild and consolidate its military forces since Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014.... http://www.globes.co.il/en/article-attempts-to-smuggle-goods-into-gaza-up-165-1001172192 A Gaza friendship EI 16 Jan by Mousa Tawfiq & Mohammed Asad When Adli Ibeid went to get his car repaired in a shop in Shujaiya, a neighborhood near Gaza City, in February 2010, he had no idea that he would make a new friend whose life would become profoundly intertwined with his own.

With Donald Trump s inauguration fast approaching, news of those performing at the ceremony has been buzzing among Americans. Though many may have suspected the President-elect's high-profile pal Kanye West to be a part of the lineup, Trump's longtime friend and the chair of his Presidential Inaugural Committee, Tom Barrac k, announced that the team has not requested rapper to perform. We haven't asked him, he told CNN's Erin Burnett on OutFront. He considers himself a friend of the President-elect, but it's not the venue. The venue we have for entertainment is filled out, it's perfect, it's going to be typically and traditionally American, and Kanye is a great guy but we just haven't asked him to perform. We move on with our agenda. Facebook is starting to friendand maybe even pokea new area of innovation outside of Silicon Valley: France. Facebook has picked Paris as the place to house Startup Garage, its first official startup hub. It will be located inside of Station F, a former railway depot that covers 34,000 square meters. According to a report today in The Financial Times, the spacebig enough to hold 1,000 startupswill also be home to a restaurant, auditorium and 3D manufacturing lab. For its area within Station F, Facebook will host a six-month program for between 10 and 15 startups dedicated to data, according to a Medium post from Station F. The startups and the 80 people working at them will be able to access Facebook resources related to marketing, technical development and UX/UI. While Facebook already is a huge supporter of entrepreneurship around the world (with initiatives like F8 of FBStart), this is the *first time* Facebook is investing into a physical space, according to Station Fs post.

There's no shame in it. That's what we thought, too. But actually sitting down with Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is like seeing a friend after a decade apart: you're both different people than you were 10 years ago, but just as fond of one another now as you were then. The 3DS versions of Ruby and Sapphire add a number of interesting even ground-breaking new features like Mega Evolutions from X and Y, and Pokémon Box that allows you to send monsters to yourself from one game in the franchise to the next. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you find yourself thrust into the role of a village's new mayor, which means it's up to you to help make the rules and aid in the burg's development. Don't fret, though: it's a pretty chill gig. You'll still have time to go fishing, catch bugs, design clothes, dig up fossils, decorate and expand your home, and hang out with friends doing lots of relaxing stuff.
