APP said it was aiming to responsibly increase its production capacity. It said in a statement that its pulpwood suppliers were bound by its conservation policies, which include committing to "no new development on peatland since February 2013 as well as the implementation of responsible, peatland best management practice". Vast areas of peatland, which store carbon, have been drained in recent years using networks of canals to convert them into plantations for trees to produce pulp and palm oil. The drained peatlands emit greenhouse gas carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, and also create arid tracts of land that are vulnerable to going up in flames. Huge fires erupt on and around plantation land every year on Sumatra, much of it in peat. The fires in 2015 were among the worst on record and cloaked Southeast Asia in toxic haze for weeks, causing many to fall ill, schools to close and flights to be cancelled.

There's also a packing list to remind you to check travel insurance and roaming settings on your phone. Added features include gate change and status updates which can be sent by SMS to avoid data charges overseas. That's 3.99/$4.99 for five flights. Boarding time, departure and gate can be displayed as a complication on the Watch face. If you use the Boris Bikes, as London's Santander Cycles bike hire scheme is affectionately called, this is handy. Since Transport for London releases bike and dock data every three minutes, apps are the best way to check availability. And unlike the official app, Cycle Hire has Watch compatibility. In the Watch's Glances screen it shows you how many bikes and spaces are available nearby. Then with a tap it'll reveal more detail either on a map or in list form. The iPhone app offers expanded features such as routes and reminders to return your bike when the 30-minute free hire period is running out.

“Anything they can do to blame us, hand it to us, they’ll do,” he said. But “If we do good public policy, it’ll be good politics. And if we take our time to get it right, then we’ll have a better product.” Walden’s careful, deliberate messaging stands in stark contrast to President-elect Donald Trump’s. Over the weekend Trump vowed a Republican Obamacare alternative would includeinsurance for everybody” — a promise the GOP has intentionally avoided. Republicans have been using the phraseuniversal access,” and most privately acknowledged their plan is unlikely to insure as many as Obamacare, in part because it wont require people to purchase coverage. (Trump has since inched away from that promise and embraced a more traditional GOP call to turn Medicaid into a system of statewide block grants.) Walden, who spoke to POLITICO prior to Trump’s comments, said he’s unconcerned that Trump could upend GOP health policy with a single tweet or statement.

The habitat has small sleeping areas for each crew member as well as a kitchen, laboratory and bathroom. The facility has 1200-square feet of floor space, about the size of a small house. Leading the crew is mission commander James Bevington, a freelance space researcher who has acted as a visiting researcher for the International Space University and a consultant at Northwestern University. The other team members include engineers, a computer scientist, a doctoral candidate and a biomedical expert. They were selected from a group of 700 applicants with backgrounds in space science. When I started, my biggest fear was that we were going to be that crew that turned out like Biosphere 2, which wasn't a very pretty picture, Bevington said. Biosphere 2 was an experimental greenhouse-like habitat in Arizona in the 1990s. It housed different natural ecosystems in an effort to study what would be needed for habitation on other planets.
