The rear seats are adequately spacious rather than impressively roomy (six-footers will find them tight) but the 395-litre boot means the i30 has more luggage space than the Astra, Focus, Golf and A3 – although not the Skoda Octavia. All i30s come with a DAB radio, all-round electric windows, alloy wheels, LED running lights and Bluetooth connectivity, but it’s definitely worth upgrading from basic S trim to either SE or (ideally) SE Nav. Premium and Premium SE include some luxurious touches, but they’re too expensive to justify. There’s no word yet on how well the i30 will do in a collision as it’s yet to be tested by Euro NCAP, but the standard safety systems all cars come with bode well. In terms of reliability, both Hyundai and the outgoing i30 fared fairly poorly in our last Driver Power customer satisfaction survey, but as this is a brand-new car, we’ll reserve judgement in this area until more information is forthcoming.

When I built the tank I put in vertical baffles so the fuel can’t slosh side to side, so you dont get a tsunami going back and forth. 12 years in and it hasnt leaked a drop. The headlights are 12-inch Lucas P100 headlights that would have been used on a lot of different cars in England in the ‘30s. They’re actually one of the only “old” parts on the car. I’m not sure what these were from but these lights would have been on Jags, Lagondas, Bentley, and Rolls Royce cars. I love the look of them. They give it a real pre-war vibe, they really make it stand out. We went through a lot of trouble and effort to make sure it didnt look like a kit car, and regular 7-inch sealed beam headlights wouldnt have helped that. AG: The dinner plate size lamps give it so much character. Where did you find the wheels? ML: We really wanted a 19-inch wheel for the correct proportions but unfortunately at the time Dayton wasnt making any in that size.

Yesterday, BMW debuted its latest facelift , or LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) in BMW speak, for the the BMW 4 Series. This facelift made slight improvements, though nothing dramatic, to an already very good looking car. Now, the BMW 4 Series is better looking than ever and ready to take on the new Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe for the next few years, until the next model comes out. However, BMW's LCI treatment can sometimes be difficult to spot. It usually doesn't involve a ton of dramatic changes, with just some headlight and taillight tweaks, as well as some interior changes. But, the pre-facelift 4 Series was already great looking, so it didn't need much. Still, though, let's take a look at the differences between the two. The headlights are the biggest difference between the two cars. On the old car, you can see the sort of ovular twin circle lights, which look seriously dated after seeing the new ones.

Antony Ingram 17 Jan 2017 Ford 's Mustang has been facelifted for the 2018 model year, and goes on sale in its home market this autumn. If that feels a little soon for a car that only went on sale in the UK fairly recently, bear in mind that the car was originally revealed in 2013 in its home market, and has been in production in left-hand drive form since 2014. As you'd expect from a mid-life facelift the visual changes are minimal, amounting to subtle alterations to the front bumper, bonnet and grille. Just like the facelifted BMW 4-series revealed recently , the Mustang has adopted full LED headlights across the range, which get their own light signature. The LED tail lights have also been restyled, but retain the familiar three-bar look characteristic to Mustangs of yore. Read: Ford Mustang review - V8 GT, EcoBoost and GT350 driven There's a new rear bumper too, along with a redesigned rear spoiler, while a selection of new alloy wheel designs and new colours - including the vibrant Orange Fury of the car in the images.

) When the time was right and the ring was purchased, he surprised Cara at the Iowa State Parks Library, where he said she is a student librarian. He had the dress set up in a side room, he said, and convinced her to don the extravagant canary satin confection and head to the cleared-out Periodicals Room. Lucky for him, she seemed positively bowled over by the proposal, based on the picturesand said yes. Lights, music, library, dress, ring. Couldn't ask for more, he summed it up. What do tree rings tell us about a possible media conspiracy? What was Charlemagneideal ruler, or corporate myth? What secrets does the Aachen treasure room hold in addition to Jesus' underwear? Inquiring minds want to know. The rest of you will just have to come along for the ride. The Dark Ages Who Turned Out the Lights? The term Dark Ages' is in disrepute to describe the period between 500 and 1000 CECommon Era. (For those unfamiliar with this politically correct term, the years are equivalent to Anno Domini' , or AD' 2 ). During this period, it was formerly believed, Western Europeans did very little that would interest historians, or indeed anybody not directly related to them. They produced almost no literature, art, or cultural artefacts. They made no appreciable progress in agriculture or technology.

Amazon also controls a massive e-commerce marketplace, a powerful distribution channel for these hardware products. The logical progression here is a build-up of a third-party ecosystem around Alexa. Consumers will see a bounty of Alexa-enabled devices connected to one another, helping to convince them to join the greater Alexa ecosystem. An interesting trend we see with the Echo is that, once a person gets one in their home and connects a smart home product like connected lights or a thermostat, they quickly start to connect others, too. So the bigger the ecosystem, the better. The Echo, then, is starting to look a lot like a trojan horse for Amazon, sneaking Alexa into the home and hooking customers on the larger voice-controlled ecosystem. The key for Amazon is to use these devices to deepen its relationship with its customers. The more shoppers find themselves using Alexa devices, the more Amazon could chip away at the dependencies that consumers have with Google and Apple via their smartphone software.

While it started with animal fat for candles, wind for milling grain, and forests for building civilizations , it moved on to coal and steam during the industrial revolution and has ended up in a huge interconnected network of power lines connected to nuclear, natural gas, coal, solar, and wind sites around the world. Regardless of the energy source, though, there's one reason that we settled on using electricity as the medium for transporting energy: it's the easiest way we've found to move it from place to place. Origins of the Commercial Grid Although the potential to use electricity as an energy delivery method was recognized fairly early it wasn't until Thomas Edison came along that the first practical and commercial electrical grid was implemented. His first grid supplied power to a handful of electric lights in New York using a direct current (DC) generator.

The billboard lights at Piccadilly Circus, London's answer to Times Square, have been switched off for what will be the longest period of time since World War Two. Land Securities, the real estate company which has owned the iconic advertising site since the 1970s, said on their website that a new cutting edge single screen is scheduled to be switched on in fall 2017, replacing the six current screens. The distinctive curved shape of the present lights will be retained, with the new design set to be Europes largest sole digital screen. The boards have typically attracted high-profile brands, such as Samsung and Coca-Cola , with Perrier being the first to advertise there in 1908. The original bulbs were replaced by neon lights, which in turn gave way to LED displays by 2011. The site, set in the heart of Londons West End, will be covered by a protective banner, which will be used for further advertising during the redevelopment.

BMW's largest SUV will focus on the US and Chinese markets but will be sold in Britain; likely due early next year The BMW X7 has been spotted winter testing wearing less cladding than before, offering the best glimpse of the future large SUV's design and scale yet. The Mercedes GLS and Range Rover rival will be the largest SUV yet produced by BMW and adopts a typical SUV body shape with a boxy passenger cabin and flat-faced front end. Beneath the camouflage will be familiar BMW design features, such as halo daytime running lights and kidney grilles. The seven-seat X7 is being developed with the US and Chinese markets in mind but was confirmed for UK sales by BMW head of sales and marketing Ian Robertson last year. Speaking to Autocar at the New York motor show , Robertson said: “We will have some versions that are top-end luxury, as well as more mainstream versions.

Ford's facelifted Mustang has been leaked on a video which shows the car's tweaked styling The 2018 Ford Mustang GT has been revealed on a video which shows the car's full styling, long before its expected debut later this year. It's clear to see the car's more angular front bumper, which has a more slimline lower intake and revised air intakes for the 2018 model year. The front lights have also been tweaked over the current model, with the new car's inducators extending below the rest of the light cluster. At the rear, the diffuser has been finished in black, but the most notable change is the addition of a small spoiler on the boot lid, and the new C-shape of the formerly straight rear light cluster details. No engine details are revealed in the video, but it's unlikely that the car's two-engine lineup of a 5.0-litre V8 and 2.3-litre Ecoboost unit.

The Golden State Warriors avenged their Christmas Day loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers to split the season series between the last two NBA champions. Golden State dominated from the opening tipoff and never trailed en route to a 126-91 win Monday night. The Warriors' lights-out shootingincluding this deep shot by Stephen Curry , via NBA on TNT led to a 29-point advantage at halftime : Though the Cavaliers played better in the second half, it wasn't enough to catch up on the scoreboard. Cleveland fell to 29-11 on the season, while Golden State improved to 35-6. Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post pointed out a number of reasons for the blowout: The play of the Warriors' Big Four was another. Draymond Green earned his third triple-double of the year with 11 points, 11 assists, 13 rebounds and five blocks.
