Lawyers in the office were delighted, for example, when the son of Dean Skelos, the Senate majority leader and an only slightly less august figure than Silver, was caught on a wiretap complaining to his father about the culture of rectitude newly created in Albany. “You can’t talk normally because it’s like fucking Preet Bharara is listening to every fucking phone call,” the younger Skelos said. “It’s just fucking frustrating.” “It is,” his father intoned. Former residents of Club Schumer fill the ranks of every level of politics and government in New York. Among those who spent time there, they say it isnt difficult to spot the ones who think they will one day join the boss among the ranks of office-holders. Bharara was never one of them. The job he always wanted was the one he held for the past eight years. “We live in strange times, and I dont know if all the klieg lights are getting to him,” said one friend of over a decade.

There's also a tiny Motogadget Motoscope Mini speedo tucked behind the number board, and a couple of discreet warning lights mounted in the top triple clamp. VTR rewired the whole bike too, mostly to simplify the wiring and hide it away as much as possible. It takes a fair bit of ogling to appreciate just how pared down everythig is, and how tastefully it's been executed. (Note details like the colored spark plug wires, and how they're bundled with the throttle cables and fuel lines). On the engine side, VTR stripped, inspected and serviced everything, but resisted the urge to go overboard. “On the Willoughby 65 build we somehow exploded' the budget with engine modifications to the level that I had to sell my custom R nineT,” Dani tells us. “So we decided to play it cool, since we need to build this one for the selling market.” The airbox is gone though, replaced by a blank-off cover and a pair of K&N filters.

Here's how their NanoGrid system, as they collectively refer to their products, is meant to work together: The BaseLantern XL, Sitelight XL and SiteLight Minis are scheduled to launch next month.

In UWP there are extension APIs available to do things that are specific to your platform or device. For example, there are extension SDKs that give you access to unique features in Windows Mobile and on Surface Hubs. The extension SDKs for Windows IoT give you access to the APIs that can manage things like lights, sensors, motors, buses and much more. Windows IoT Core supports a wide range of devices. Here are some examples: Raspberry Pi 2 Raspberry Pi 3 Arrow DragonBoard 410c MinnowBoard MAX Intel Joule Out of the box, you can use the UWP programming language you’re most comfortable with to build apps for IoT Core; these languages support both apps with or without a User Interface (akabackground applications”) and are shipped with Visual Studio by default. C# C++ JavaScript Visual Basic Alternatively, you can use one of the following IoT-focused languages; these languages can only be Background Applications.

The spy shots suggest plenty of rugged black plastic cladding line the car’s bumpers, wheelarches and side skirts, while like on the previous generation Country Tourer, the lights will be mounted in distinctive new housing. The ride height appears taller too. Image 7 of 9 Image 7 of 9 The previous Insignia Country Tourer was offered with all-wheel-drive as standard. Should this model follow suit it’ll make use of the most powerful turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 256bhp – that’s currently the only power unit available with all-wheel-drive. However, a diesel option will inevitably be part of Vauxhall’s plans. Judging by these spy shots a reveal shouldnt be too far away – the covers should be off by the end of 2017. Given the Country Tourer is a high-spec Insignia model, it should start from significantly more than the £18,615 of the standard Sports Tourer estate. What do you think of the Insignia Country Tourer? Let us know in the comments below. James Brodie

Nick Trott 22 Mar 2017 McLaren has released a new sketch detailing its forthcoming 'hyper-GT' car, codenamed BP23. The three-seater will become the spiritual successor to the iconic McLaren F1, and be built by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) for a 2019 release. It will be the most powerful and most aerodynamic road car McLaren has ever produced. The latest teaser sketch shows off a few details of the upcoming car, plus our best look yet at the overall shape. A swooping roofline and low rear end are very prominent, as are thin LED rear lights. While the enormous wheels with the barest hint of tyres are likely to be toned down for the production model, expect the aggressive rear diffuser to remain, while it's likely to feature dihedral doors like every modern McLaren. McLaren 720S: latest news and video The BP23 (standing for 'Bespoke Product 2) will be limited to 106 examples (as with the original F1), and according to McLaren, every single one has been sold already.

Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa are being put through their paces in a "tech incubator" hotel chain, in order to determine which voice assistant brings more to the table for guests wanting to order room service, control lights, change TV channels, adjust the temperature, and more (via Bloomberg ). The main incubator for the test is happening in Aloft Hotels, which are owned by Marriott. The Aloft Hotel in Boston is using Amazon Echo devices and a collection of iPhones and iPad s to gather information on which voice assistant will ultimately best serve guests in the long run. Marriott hasn't divulged information on who might be the winner as of yet, but the company did say that it expects to decide if it will expand the test to more chains besides Aloft Hotels "as early as mid-year." Marriott expects to decide whether to adopt the technology for one or more of its chains as early as mid-year, potentially boosting sales for the device of choice.

Enlarge (credit: Bruce Leighty / Getty Images News ) In the wake of recommendations that were part of a recent study of its red-light cameras , the Chicago Department of Transportation has agreed to immediately increase the so-calledgrace period”—the time between when a traffic light turns red to when a ticket is automatically issued. Under the new policy, which was announced Monday, the grace period for Chicago’s red lights will move from 0.1 seconds to 0.3 seconds. This will bring the Windy City in line with other Americans metropolises, including New York City and Philadelphia. In a statement , the city agency said that this increase would “maintain the safety benefits of the program while ensuring the program’s fairness.” On Tuesday, the Chicago Tribune reported that the city would lose $17 million in revenue this year alone as a result of the expanded grace period. Michael Claffey, a CDOT spokesman, confirmed that figure to Ars. Read 2 remaining paragraphs | Comments

The Touareg’s light design takes more influence from the Tiguan than the Atlas. Beneath the covers, it looks like the latest Touareg test mule features horizontal structures on both its front and rear lights, as previewed by last year's Beijing motor show concept . Under the bonnet of that concept was a plug-in hybrid powertrain that produced 381bhp and 516lb ft of torque. The system could run in full-electric mode for up to 50 miles. In its most economical mode, the concept was also capable of more than 94mpg combined. A hybrid powertrain like this is therefore expected to be offered with the 2017 Touareg, but more conventional turbocharged four-cylinder diesel and petrol units are likely to form the bulk of its engine line-up. As is the case with the current car, all versions of the new Touareg will come with four-wheel drive as standard. Volkswagen is said to be working hard to ensure the new Touareg's cabin is significantly more luxurious.
