My stepdaughter’s high school held theirs last week. “We just had an MLK assembly,” she texted me as she filed out of the auditorium, “and it was the biggest steaming pile of shit.” I held out the phone to show my husband. She doesnt swear in front of us. The featured speaker, she said, was a white man – a classmate’s grandfather – who supposedly saw King deliver his famous I Have a Dream speech. According to my kid, he told the assembled students that Black Lives Matter is “too exclusive”, and “all lives matter” was more in line with King’s message. The room exploded into cheers. My daughter, a mixed-race girl in a mostly white school, refused to clap. (Later, some white friends would make fun of her for it: sure, the speech was “weird”, but why was she so upset?) The white man concluded his remarks by declaring that it would have been King’s dream for the Seattle Seahawks to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in the then-upcoming National Football League playoff game.

The Federal Constitutional Court of Germany has ruled against banning the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD), in Karlsruhe, Tuesday. The decision was reached due to a 'lack of evidence' that the NPD violates Germany's constitution. This was the second failed attempt to outlaw the NPD. SOT, Peter Richter, National Democratic Party (NPD) Lawyer (German): "The sword of Damocles is gone. The NPD is and remains a legitimate party, which one can vote for like they can for any other party. There is no need that the vote is wasted due to it facing a threat; and we will prove that in the upcoming state elections in Saarland, where I myself will be joining the race as a candidate. I am certain that the NPD through the boost it received today through the predicted acquittal will manage to obtain the five percent and enter Federal Parliament." SOT, Lorenz Caffier, Chairman of Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (German): "It is important that we continue to deal with the NPD, regardless of the outcome of the ban.

However, much of the Wadi Barada region remains in rebel hands, though an upcoming reconciliation agreement is set to lead to its full surrender to Syrian forces. As True Activist reported recently , the Syrian government is well on its way to reclaiming its land, resources, and infrastructure from anti-government and foreign-funded factions. However, that will only remain the case as long as the US government or its allies dont directly intervene. Interestingly, last Friday – the same day that the Syrian government reclaimed the Wadi Barada reservoirIsrael bombed a major military airport near Damascus in close proximity to Assad’s personal residence. This bombing – and any others that may occur before Obama officially leaves office on Friday – are a clear attempt to provoke Assad into attacking a foreign power, thereby justifying a foreign invasion of Syria.
